The Blue Mage will return in 5.1 with a Level increase to 60 and yeah 120 Spells and whatever he does with it will happen after that. if my guess is right there will be Players who play the Job no matter what, there will be players that will not go past 50 and then there will be players that never made it to level 50 or though of playing the Job. But look forward to New rides (Horses,Birds, Dogs and Etc) and minions added to the love able Carnival because Square as to give you reasons to play the Blue Mage. yes they will keep adding to the only thing that matters the Carnival.
I would love BLU to be a full job. However considering Yoshi-P is staying firm with it being a limited job, I don't think this will ever happen. I honestly believe the job itself is a complete failure. Quite literally no one is playing it anymore and has been shelved by like 90% of the population. If you find a party in Party Finder for Blue Mage to learn skills, it's quite a miracle. The most I've ever seen on lately is like 3 or 4. I don't think I hear of anyone EVER doing the Masked Carnival. No one in my FC does it and none of my friends either. It's just a really sad state that Blue Mage is in. Who knows maybe they will fix it. It will take some time before we hear anything as we have to wait until 5.1.
An interesting way to make Blue Mage more accepted could be Eureka? Do people not see the parallels between Logos Actions and Blue Mage? They could make it a Eureka-exclusive job at Lv 70 and Bozja-exclusive at Lv 80 in addition to what we have now.FFXIV is an MMORPG. So why is BLU being restricted from joining mainstream content and pushed as "solo-content" orientated? If I wanted to play an extensive solo-player experience with collecting blue magic, the previous offline titles exist for that purpose.
"BLU has to have certain skills, and it'd be no fun if they didn't work against raid bosses!"
You know what's even less fun? Not being able to participate in said raids to begin with. It isn't worth having those skills if those skills are the reason we are being "limited." No one in their right mind had the expectation that we needed lvl5 death, and that we had to make it work on the latest raid bosses.
"But if BLU is accepted and doesn't have the skills they're expected to have, they'll be kicked"
Is it so hard to implement a requirement for number of skills BLU must have in order to enter an instance? A rebuttal to this suggestion would entail that perhaps a certain BLU might only have buff/support spells, and not enough DPS skills. To that I say "classify spells for their function and specify a number of DPS-oriented spells needed to enter roulette."
People who care enough to go into Savage are the same ones who will care enough to get their "core skills" to perform correctly. Why are we killing the opportunity for your consumer base in order to appease a strawman argument of a bad player?
People wanted BLU in this game. People, like myself, would have been more than happy with simple job quests making us go on some silly hunt to "learn" skills if it meant being streamlined into the general population.
I can even accept grinding in the overworld like we're in some cheap pay-to-win Korean MMO, I can even accept being forced to learn skills on an RNG basis and hunting monsters for them, but allow us the option to play with everyone else in the content everyone is doing! Because after all, this is not a solo game-- This is an MMORPG.
SE, I implore you to reconsider.
That's exactly what I think. Eureka and its elemental wheel sound really cohesive with how Blue Mage functions. Obviously, it would need some adjustments, but that seem quite the right content for a job like BLU. So does the deep dungeons, maybe having an exclusive Blue Mage scoreboard and the ability to go as solo.
Yep. It'll be a very interesting way to make both contents more fun. That's exactly what I think. Eureka and its elemental wheel sound really cohesive with how Blue Mage functions. I'm sending with making blue an norm job because limiting a job shouldnt be a thing in the first place. it should be allowed to queue in duty finder but its power would have to be synced a bit. I really believe making something limited will make it less enjoyable.
...and here we are...I lvl'd this trashcan of a fake class to 60 today, it was the most boring thing i've done in this game ever. On a scale of 1-10 i'd say "i'd rather play shadowlands and deal with garbage systems than touch blue again". Damn, i'm so mad that this class has become what it is. A meme, wasted potential and content. What the hell were the devs thinking with this? "They want blue so we'll give it to them, even though we don't want to do it, but we'll make it super shitty."? Blue mage and it's situation in 14 feels like something Ion would come up with for WoW..and news flash no one likes his decisions on anything, this decision for BLU was poorly thought out, poorly implemented, and a waste of time.
You still got 10 more levels to bang out my duder to be up to date with blue mage leveling. But you could do the 60 blue mage stuff for the mount if ya want now just gotta start a pf. And it was more of a side project for one of the devs when it first came out and honestly i think they implemented it well. Twas always a side content and for side content i think its fun. Have the collection element of classic blue mage while having it so it can do pre-made party content. Gather some friends to do the raids or solo some dungeons for speed running it can be quite fun....and here we are...I lvl'd this trashcan of a fake class to 60 today, it was the most boring thing i've done in this game ever. Well, you don't have to play it.
BLU is great as it is and it would be even better when you could do Potd and HoH with him.
If they had made it anything else as it is now then it would have been just another caster.
But this opinion comes from a person who also really likes Eureka and BA (Bozja and DR not so much)
