Depends on your definition of rude. I don’t find people bluntly telling someone the truth rude but i know a lot of people here like to have things either kept on the downlow or sugarcoated so their feelings are hurt by what some random person says. I however don’t share that sentiment.

As for FFXIV, I think it's actually hurt significantly by the lack of any meaningful faction based choices. I find the selection of playable races to be very bland, since any racial lore present in the background never shows up in any prominent way. There's also no unique starting zones for each playable race, so many just don't feel as though they're an actually part of the game world but just a different 'glamour' that can potentially be used when the player character makes their way through cutscenes occasionally nodding in agreement with whatever the Scions want from them next.

The story in WoW is based around the original Horde/Alliance conflict from the RTS games and your character is just a meaningless cog in the machine. Faction choices as game play make sense there because player conflict is core to the game play.

The story in FFXIV is based around the Warrlor of Light, defender of Eorzea. Faction choices make no sense here because this isn't a game about player conflict.

There are no racial starting zones because Eorzean is inclusive of race, not exclusive, and they're all essentially human in nature (Hrothgar being the sole divergent). It would be nice to have more racial lore available in game instead of having to go to outside resources but racial starting zones aren't needed to accomplish that.

Rude: offensively impolite or ill-mannered. You can tell the truth without being rude.

In my experience it was often the opposite. Alliance players would spent a lot of time positioning themselves as the 'good guys' and claiming that the various Horde races had absolutely zero ground to stand upon and should have just rolled over and died instead of daring to oppose the Alliance in any and all capacities.

I don't think the faction model was a mistake so much as it should have maybe had a third faction to allow the various playable races to be distributed in a way that made more sense for their mentality, methods and goals.

I...don't care so long as people stop posting about it. Especially certain ones, who basically call this game junk on the regular. The burgeoning sense of entitlement has become tiresome to the point that I don't visit the forums as much as I once did.

I don't watch FF streams. I sometimes unintentionally participate in them but I'm too busy playing to watch someone's usually degrading commentary about something I would normally get enjoyment out of.

If they are courteous, then I welcome them to the game. If not, then they can fade the wretched morass that those types of players eventually slide into. The fact that they share content with the internet means very little to me and doesn't elevate them above anyone else IMO.

I recommend the reddit forums for you. It's pretty much 100% fanboy gushing all the time where anything negative is downvoted into oblivion.

The internet is aware, but there are many many people on it who are rude because they can be without repercussion. Funny how again it's the rules of where you are that make people "nice" or not.

I’m actually excited for the influx of people he’s going to bring in. WoW players seem to be very blunt with critiques and all that and it would probably do our community some good to have blunt feedback and critiques in both content and reviews. Players here have grown far too used to having thin skin. I hope him coming here changes that.

Yeah, I can hardly wait for these alpha chads to finally show us casual snowflakes how to dominate in FFXIV. I can't even remember the last time I was told to unsubscribe or kill myself, and as a result I've become a soft, flabby weeb who can't even cast Stoneskin anymore.
