Well that sounds fun.

Bardams Mettle. Tank tries three times to double pull. Healer can't keep him alive at all. Three wipes on the first two packs of trash.

Sighs.

The healer should have been able to do so, but the tank should have read the room after the first wipe or two and decided to hit the brakes a bit.

Then you get yelled at for not playing the job right.

RDM is either looked down at for low personal DPS when a run goes smooth, or ignored no matter how many times you raise people when a run goes poorly. There is very little in-between.

I was in a dungeon where the mobs aggro to whoever walks through a threshold first like in The Vault. The tank didn't seem to want to go first as they kept hesitating and slowing down between mobs all throughout the dungeon. The one place you definately don't want the DPS running ahead and the tank couldn't regain emnity well, causing extra strain on the healer. I could almost sense the other party members frustration as we repeatedly kept bunching up behind the tank while trying to run in a straight line.

Raid bingo time!

Had a wipe on Hashmal because few people were trying to kill the sand balls? Check.

Had a wipe on Thunder God Cid adds? Check.

Had a party member drag Crush Weapon through the party and kill 4 dps? Check.

Had a semi-afk healer in the party for Dun Scaith? Check.

Had half the alliance stand next to the impact marker on Shadow Queen's incoming add? Check.

Had one person who had the most deaths the entire Dun Scaith run win the minion? Check.

Had one TGC run where schs in C had no idea about some of their kit and their party would die to Doom? Check.

Had a near wipe on Ultima during her intermission because not many looked to where Hashmal would dash from? Check.

I think I scored a full bingo line tonight.

Running Mt Gulg on BLM to farm for the fancy casting hat with the specific colour accents on it. 20 min Q, both times it pops have trouble with getting the tank to accept. Finally get in, tank is not moving. Wait about a minute and finally the other dps says "sec". Tank finally respons "Sorry, was in the middle of ordering food when Q popped." I personally wouldnt Q for something if I was ordering food, but ok... First pull in, tank is only doing small packs. Ok, whatever. Except it's going so slow and now I've pulled aggro from one of the mobs. No problem, I'll run to the tank, even if they don't notice their aoes will pick it off me. The tank wasn't using aoes. Second pack, same thing. I'm getting more heals than the tank now. Don't know how it finished because I lagged out. I should've left before that anyway.

I'll post my own mistakes because hey, if you cant laugh at yourself?

• Boss down to last few % of health, I'm the last person standing, feeling epic. Group behind me chanting from the floor, feels good man. Think to myself as I'm dodging attacks like a pro and weaving in and out doing my attacks, I must figure out what LB means, these guys use that a lot. Doing my best, boss basically dunks me when I was so close.
Group is like why no LB?? I didn't say anything, rezzed, done the boss and left (it was the final boss). I google LB FFXIV, and to my horror I discover what it is. I felt my cheeks go red hot and I just wanted to crawl under my desk. From Epic, to epic flop.

• Joined a new FC, boss lady escorts me to the FC house, very cool. We get so far into the housing area and she vanishes. I spend 15 mins running around checking house signs, not finding the right one. Everyone is asking where I'm at, I'm lost and frantically looking for the house. Eventually Boss Lady whispers me asking if im in subdivision, then tells me how to check. By the time I got it, it had been close to 40 mins, and half the FC had gone to bed.

• Slime boss, tank is doing tanking things on slime, I see an add. Charge in, destroy the bomb thing. \o/
Next bomb, BOOM \o/
This goes on for maybe 5 or 6 bombs, I'm thinking dude.. I'm wiping out these things solo! See party chat. Alya STOP STOP STOP STOP DONT KILL BOMBS STOP ALYA NO. I felt like a complete tool, no one said a word after that, I am usually chatty but just couldn't bring myself to even say a word. Apart from when we left I put in "Im SOOO sorry!"

• When the stacking icon comes up, I see flashy thing and panic. I go screaming around the screen, whole group chasing me like lemmings. I'm going "Noooo save yourselves boss is targeting me get awayyy!" I'm sure you guys know how that ended.

• Doing the MSQ roll with cid following us around. For weeks I was thinking why are they putting (Cant type the word on forums, but think CID spelt backwards) and figured theyre just immature kids. Recently a FC friend explained it to me when I mentioned it.

• I only JUST learned what that glowy eye means on boss fights. Before it, I just thought it was some players cool spell effect.

• I still can't do fights with ice. I will fall off first, and if I somehow earn a rez I will fall off again. Dont rez me on ice floor fights guys.

• I get paranoid when I get the arrow thing from the healer. I always think a mob is targeting me and swing my character around to face them angrily. I swear several healers out there now think im a psycho.

I know I got a load more, just cant think of them. But anyway, hopefully you guys find a laugh in my struggles and remember, sprouts are really trying but we just are still learning and there is a lot to learn. ♥

So at first I thought this dancer was new and didn't know about standard step as they didn't use it once and wouldn't respond until they got to the final boss and then came up with this as an excuse....

I just said a statement being directed at someone or not generally doesn't matter because people are either open to it or not. If they want to live in their own bubble they will do just that at all costs.

Of course. That's why I said "some" people. The point is people are different and some people behave a certain way, and so it's always worth it because you never know who are in your group.

I prefer to share information for the sake of the crowd who is open to suggestions over withholding it just to pander to the crowd who ignores everything at all cost.
All assuming that someone is not being an asshole about it, obviously.

Maybe, but the healer was a returner that said they were rusty.

First wipe I tend to hold the phone on.

To be frank, I think this is a general outlook most people have for every jobs, not just RDMs. Funnily enough though, I have seen several RDMs with their ‘low pDPS’ who would outdamage other red jobs like SMN, MCH, MNK, and even SAM in the same party! (Although the reason why are usually extremely obvious)
