I actually like this idea. Have it be like a channeling that lasts 24 hours. Move or de-target placard to break channel, click again to start over. Timer ends, one channeler wins.

And if the house is off-timer when you reach it, instead the channel would be like attuning to an aetheryte, just a few seconds.
