The thing is, we learnt it from a group of mob that tethers us to 'mimic'. It would be weird to turn the spell into a cycle button. If any adjustment at all, I wish we can use this spell on enemy targets as well, not just other players.I would just like Aetherial Mimicry to cycle through its three settings rather than having to go look for people. It's fine if you're in a busy city or the Gold Saucer or something, but if you're out in the world and decide you want to go play with a FATE, it's mildly inconvenient.
I'm mostly just hoping that Stool Pelt is one of the spells.
We also learn magic spells from robots and aliens (and an alien robot). We conjure fish just to spit them at enemies. We pull swords, wings, ice bows, and all kinds of other things out of nowhere and then put them away into nowhere. We have three different ways to kill ourselves. Frankly, a cycling buff is the least impractical trick BLU pulls.
I was thinking more like a set of 5 spells, one for each role. A party mitigation, a party full cure (maybe with a chance of raise), single target, line and circle AoEs. Each one only takes up one limit bar, so that means you can ration them out a little better, and 3 DPS limits would equal the potency of a typical LB3, allowing the party to work together to LB.
Annoyingly level 70 trials would have offered some of the best options, Suzaku for the healer one, etc.

Maybe using on yourself to get DPS mimicry at least.
Using it on enemies could be tricky too, and you won't be able to rely on the enemy you're facing being the role you need, so you'll still need to find someone else. So while it could be a handy option, it wouldn't eliminate the need for finding another player.
Frankly, it's not difficult to find someone else. Just TP to Limsa.
