It's so strange. I came over from WoW way back in 2013 when I first began playing FFXIV. The concept of WoW players embracing FFXIV isn't anything new so it's strange to me that is has suddenly become a problem in the eyes of a portion of the community.
We’ve always had that undercurrent. It was especially bad in the 1.x era because “this game is just so immersive; you can’t get that in wow” and the like. I mean they weren’t completely wrong in that we were playing an alternative to wow, but I never really put much confidence in their taste.
Like I said on the other form, I'm not worried about him and I'm more then happy to see him play.
It's that he's created a real toxic fan base around his fake toxic persona, and I'm not particularly thrilled to have the shite in this game explode all because they decided to follow him. (Not to mention others that will decide to be a kissa** to anyone who is a popular streamer)
<gasp> What if he picks my server?! I wouldn't know since I don't watch his streams, but it'd be pretty neat to see Diabolos in his highlight video!
Anyway, as long as it's a server/data center with a lot of players who are indifferent or like him. He just wants to play the game, guys...

He'll fit right into that demographic of users who stand around in Limsa all day. He'll blend right in, and eventually just become "another person who stands around in Limsa all day."
You understand that with him comes thousands of people... The people who give him the reputation he has... Do you really think anyone cares about ONE person?<gasp> What if he picks my server?! I wouldn't know since I don't plan to watch his stream, but it'd be pretty neat to see Diabolos in his highlight video!

This. It's quite hypocritical of "us" to claim being so nice but then do a 180 and complain "oh no he gonna play on MY server/datacenter"."Worrying" over a surge of new players seems odd, we do want the game we play to succeed, don't we?
Servers have limits, they don't just explode. If a world fills it will prevent people making more characters on it.
Let the guy play in peace. Doesn't even matter if you don't like his fanbase, rise above it and prove ours is as nice as we say then.
Ya'll are wild, thinking anyone cares about one person, no matter how popular. Have fun.
