So when people gift subs how much do they make from them? Like 1 sub is $1 or? Guess I’m confused about that.

Depends on the streamer but apparently its like 50/50? Twitch gets half of it and the streamer gets half?

SE has a campaign for the fat black chocobo (which some already have, if you participated in other campaigns), if you give a specific list of twitch streamers 4 subs you get the birb.

So some streamers are getting a lot of subs thrown at them, more than usual at least.

Nah, you can subscribe to the channel or you can "gift" subs, which will randomly gift others in the chat a free sub at a specific tier (1, 2, or 3)

Not like youtube where it's free and it means you're "following" them, here you pay money and 50% of it goes to the streamer. The viewer gets some emotes usually for it. Twitch has a following system as well, but just different verbiage lol.

You can 'gift' subs and it will just pick some people randomly (that are watching the stream) and subscribe those selected people to the streamer, like if you and I were watching Yoshida stream and you decided to gift subs - you would pay the value of the sub and then maybe I am lucky and get to claim that as if I subscribed (in the value of emotes and such). There may be other benefits to being subscribed, like if they have a streamer store (common for warframe). Where you watch the streamer and then get to spend points (based on time watched usually), to buy items that the streamer will trade to you in game (where being subscribed might earn you double points). Colors, icons, special chat features, etc may be involved.

There are tiers as well so you can spend more to earn more emotes, and maybe other benefits (streamer by streamer case). These emotes also show up in your discord if you connect them, so you can use joeshmoe's silly face emoji in discords. If you're a streamer you get your own emoji automatically (cause you can't sub to yourself), so.. if you were realaaaaaallllyyy determined to have custom emotes but didn't want to pay anything.. just become a twitch partner and then upload emoji you want to use on discord. Lol. A lot of effort . Though I don't stream anymore I still have a few emoji, 'for freeeee' lol.


You can also donate, depending on how, that % to streamer can be much higher than a subscription - like if someone has a paypal. Related to that is bits, another twitch pushed system, that works similarly to donating to paypal (but twitch makes a bit off the top). Like bits though a subscription is promoted by twitch via a number of ways (because they make money off that themselves).

Its obvious SE tries to fight WoW on twitch for viewer numbers as WoW has a LOT more daily views then FFXIV like 10x more.
But what they did is so insanely backwards that it will not help, i can guarantee you, players who want the mount ... they come into the room throw 4 subs and leave.

And how did that help the representation of FFXIV? Your feeding the known streamers, which is good for them, but has 0 benefit for SE.
Why did you not make it drops? Be in the room and you get a chance per min to get the mount, ppl would stay for a bit or turn off volume and have it in background. This would've inflated your numbers a lot more then a person jumping in and out. Or at least asked the player base about who they want on that list, or made it "any currently FFXIV playing streamer".

Every single SE campaign that's outside the game feels like "looks good on first glance, is not effective on second" ... Why were we not able to buy Butterfinger on amazon and hand in that receipt? "Nah man ... go to the US and buy em in a store or get Fked lol". I would've given them a chance, maybe liked them? Increased your sales worldwide? Nah US only ... just so backwards.

It's also just not a very good game to stream. What do you watch it for, the story? Then you just spoil the majority of the game for yourself. Do you watch it for the raids? That's only gonna be entertaining for so long since hard content is simply not the game's focus. Do you watch it for the streamers themselves? Then they might as well play anything else and it would be just as entertaining for you.

Some of those streamers on the list are also rather questionable, I've never heard of them and I bet if I looked into it I would probably find that a bunch started streaming the game maybe a month ago.

That's not even taking into account that 4 gifted subs cost you more than almost any other account-wide mount on the mogstation.


But hey, good for all those streamers getting a bunch of subs.

iam definitely not loaded i've been playing since 1.0 and my main only has 1.6mill all my alts have less then a mill, as for real life iam also not loaded i can barely afford my bills but i can still afford the monthly sub so life isnt all bad
