I remember struggling a little with it, as you'd think a healer should feel in a normal RPG. I also remember when not being a healer, our healers wiping us fairly often in vault lol. I don't think SE will ever risk that type of experience as the norm in content going forward outside of ex and savage.

To be clear, I don't agree with that mindset. Content should be on some level a little challenging at the very least. I'm just speaking for the reasoning I believe SE does what they do.
This!!!!!!! my god when I was new to the game and doing vault as whm(still was deciding it vs ast which is better for me) the vault was so bad , I be running out of mp and stuff and felt so stressed , medic 2 is really pricy to boot for whm ,similar things would be keeper of lake, and that dungeon that you must not only try keep yourself and party alive but Estinen too yikes e.e Whm dont really struggle now with lillies being there, but there really are some nasty dungeons set on making healers even if they dont intend to be a strict heal bot. Ast/Sch was more easier with these dungeons some what cause to me those are one of the rare times you want barriers over regen, but whm with the only pricy medica 2 and aslyum was not really cutting it enough to me.

Don't feel bad, I can basically autopilot WHM through many an instance... yet you REALLY don't want me playing SCH....

That said, I have encountered a few badly geared tanks I have encountered with more ego than ilvl and for those... you just gotta have thick skin and push through it. Things get better once you get past 50 as that tends to be the weedout for most of the players.

However, there are a couple of instances like Aurum Vale which can be brutal because it's got the perfect confluence of green leaf, bad gear, and hard hitting mobs to make you want to go yell at Hydaelyn for picking THAT warrior of light.

First sorry to hear that you quit healing for this reason.

Secondly, I don't understand people with your logic, even if I know multiple people with this very mindset. You meet a random person, everything in this dude debects you; his/her attitude, his/her sayings, he/she is abusive against you, he/she make no sense to you. But for mysterious reasons you care about him, you give importance to what he/she says. That baffles me. Why? Why do you format yourself according to dumb people opinion? If someone is obviously a dumb***, let him/her soak in his/her own arrogance bath.

If I may give you an advice. Maybe you'll think it is unrelated but I think it is strongly related.

    You CANNOT please everyone.
Not because you don't put enough energy in it but because divergent opinions exist, so by design you cannot please everyone. Focus your energy to please the persons you care about.

    Deep.

With age comes wisdom. I'm vastly approaching 40, married, raising 2 children, and have a demanding career. And I play a game that has zero patience inherently. My hobby doesn't support my lifestyle anymore.

You REALLY have to take stock in who you play with, and I'm incredibly lucky to be in an FC that is compartmentalized for Crafting, Raiding, RP, housing, gathering, Glamour, or just general tom foolery.

I log in during patch days and expansions and take time off because I can. Other then that I play with the same people every week raiding and just contributing. Nobody kicks people out, nobody get's all up in arms, and nobody puts anyone down. It's against the FC policy and we build people up rather then tear them down. We all learn from each other, learn our voices, and our difficulties we work with. My FC knows I play on PS5 so they know it's harder for me to heal just by targeting and AST cards is really busy, plus DPS. I'm like one of 2 AST in my FC.

To the OP.... don't give up. Like I said before...healing is difficult. But finding a good healer is impossible. Get in with a good group of people that will help and nurture your healing aspirations. Don't take everything to heart, and take the high road before others pull you down in the mud they like being in. Kindly nod and say.... Ok

    Good Luck!

Please do so! Be sure to tag me so that I can personally celebrate you and support you. You lose nothing by simply being nice.

If you didn't get it, the point of the post was for people to see that how they behave affects others in-game & the game itself. Kindness would dramatically lessen the tank/healer shortage. It is good that I posted because it gives others a chance to communicate with me. You really need to fear the majority that don't put up a post like I do. They simply leave, shrink the player base & we have no way to possibly help them get through a tough time.

This is a perpetual online game, not an offline game. If I buy offline New Super Mario Bros for the Switch, it is irrelevant if anybody else likes it. The game is mine forever.

On the other hand, if other people are turned off by FFXIV, Square Enix loses too many subscribers and we no longer have a game that we paid for.

Now I spend my time enjoying DPS in FFXIV. I would prefer that no other healers/tanks go through toxicity. It is healthier for the game in general.

That is fair. What happened was that once I was given a reason to give DPS a serious try, I loved it. It is like if your favorite breakfast place closes for a week and you try a new place next door. If you love the new place, you might not ever go back to the old place. Had the old place never closed, you would have never stopped going there.

I can enjoy DPS fully in a PUG (both gameplay & social) or I can enjoy Healing partially in a PUG. This is not even a contest. Your advice is perfectly reasonable for your career or your dreams. Get an education, become an athlete, write that book, get married. Don't worry about the haters!

But what I get from a video game is far too little benefit to put up with a similar amount of crap.

I can personally revisit the topic once I am max-level and also have a static.

I have been fortunate in most people if and when I mess up will actually send me tells giving me advice, or if something is going wrong I always post in group chat if I am doing something wrong. Its a great way to learn how to optimize my skill level and learn everything I can. Before I go into a new dungeon ill check out a how to video and try to get a "idea" of what I'm getting into beforehand. Sometimes we all just need a little help and some <3.

Well, every time the tank is toxic, I stop healing him (in parties of 8) or I scared him only healing below 10% (in parties of 4).

    This ^

In the end, the OP quitted being a healer because they couldn't be liked by everybody. I can't possibly view being told to heal when it's completely unnecessary as harassment. Some people don't know how to play and they are eager to show that. That's how I see it.

We can only hope that they have learned at least something with Endwalker. Hell, the only thing i am actually interested on Endwalker is how they plan on changing Jobs in both PvE and PvP.
