Have you ever been kicked for not having "good enough" gear?

I know, I got hard locked on MSQ because of item level.

I'm trying to figure out how people are getting into ShB and SB dungeons with trash low level gear.

To reach item level during leveling, you need to craft it on your own, buy gear at a npc vendors or on mb. Gear is pretty cheap.
Can happen if you don't have that much loot luck.

Poetics gear.
You can use the full augmented lvl 50 gear (ilvl 130?) All the way from lvl 50-60.
Then you use the lvl 60 poetics gear until 70 and repeat.

I had horrible gear leveling astro and was promptly kicked I think it was Dohn Megh, and honestly i agree cuz the healing was very aggressive and didnt wanna leave

I wouldn't dwell on bad dungeon groups, just bounce, move on, and enjoy the game. Spend your time with the people who want to have fun.

Never been kicked (as far as I can remember) and haven't kicked anyone because of gear.

The only places I really notice people with low gear is in the lv50 and under content where ilvl isn't enforced, particularly the 30-50 range (Longstop - AV), and even then I'll usually ask if they have any better gear on them and if not just slog through and hope gear for them drops.

Two incidents in particular I remember happened in Stone Vigil, which seems to be the biggest offender since both Qarn and Cutter's Cry are optional side quest dungeons.
The first was where the tank was a little low in gear (not uncommon) but the healer (AST) was still in pre-20 gear. I noticed and asked if they had any better gear on them, at which point they were able to find a couple pieces of lv50(???) gear to wear.
The second I was tanking with a leveling healer and two sprout DPS, all undergeared. I pulled small and went after the optional chests in hopes that gear for them would drop. Unfortunately, both DPS were casters and we only got melee and tank drops. This was on top of the Arcanist not using their Crystal because they were 'unfamiliar' with the job.

Someone else also mentioned this, but pre-lvl50 gear recommendations aren't that great, especially for tanks where it often recommends the DPS pieces over the better (but lower ilvl) Tank gear or Tank/DRG dungeon gear.

ngl, I have wanted to kick someone who queue into a dungeon with overly underleveled gear, especially if you're the tank or healer. You're just wasting my time at that point.

Not potting on cooldown is one thing but not having a single materia would be a good reason for me to kick someone. At least the (usually) cheaper grad VI materia. But if they show up with nothing at all, I'm inclined to assume that their lack of effort isn't limited to gear.

The worst offender I've ever seen was a BLM on e8s in 500-510 gear, no materia and no buff food. Got one shot on every aoe without babysitter shields. Our side barely managed to get the adds down and only because we blew buffs we were supposed to hold for reopener. With 6 helpers with multiple clears it could've easily turned into a kill/ farm because it was practice from icelit onwards.
As expected, their lack of effort was not limited to gear ... they got booted after 2 or 3 pulls. Had I been lead, I would've instantly booted them. No excuse for that sort of thing.

Nowadays endgame materia is so damn cheap, between extraction and lockboxes, that there is 0 excuse not to have the best one, no matter how poor you are.
I can't even imagine doing simple stuff like expert dungeons without materia, I can't imagine savage, where you need to even food up for stats.
