Royal menagerie. 2 Deadweight healers, one who's so much deadweight that they were practically in their grave already. Me and my redmage and summoner friends, keeping everyone alive or rezzing constantly.

i cast 5 damage spells. my redmage friend cast like 2 i think, and our summoner was either dead or rezzing.

Healer LB3s. Then we almost wipe.

Fun fact: Did you know that if you get hit with Evil Eye from Bone dragon, you get inflicted with a hysteria debuff? And the cone of it extends beyond the raid room? You know now!

We had a very S-M-R-T B tank turn the boss to face the entire alliance. Only a couple were smart enough to get away from the huge cone, while everyone else was hit. I was behind the boss because MNK positionals yo.

Edit: had another roulette with a friend earlier this evening and got trap ressed into the cone, and ran to my death. Though I'm still waiting on the Starbucks in the mail for winning the bet on wiping to Ancient Flare.

I am about to run multiple (potentially) of that specific raid just so I can get my striking top. I can only imagine how painful it is if I happen to get matched with bad apples. Ugh...please no... (But I know it will happen, one way or another Q_Q)

Anyhow... another story to humor & to stay on topic: Great Gubal Library
Rolled as a SCH, the roulette graces me with:

1. A DNC --- the best of the bunch
2. A Sprout-first timer DRG --- Does not use any single AoE weaponskills, at all.
3. A returner DRK --- the classic 'you pull; you tank' player.

In most of the run's duration, there are no real trouble. I do wish the DRK would wall pull because mobs barely hit hard in this dungeon. Sometime after the 1st boss, the DRK decides to pull more than 1 pack. A bit surprised, I took that as a sign of growing comfort with mobbing. However, shortly after pulling the first pack beyond 2nd boss, they run, run, then STOPS few yalms from the next pack's aggro range. I was late to double back and aggroed them by accident, ouchy... damn. I wish they're more consistent in this doing, don't confuse me They weren't even pulling the mobs off from me and just went to the next pack after the first pack was dead. Okay...well fine. Tanked those before as a RDM I'm good.

At 2nd half of the boss is when all hell break loose. The first half of orb mechanic spared the DRK and the DRG; it targeted the DNC and myself, twice. No sweat, we place the orb accordingly and continue doing our own things. The third time (before the book summons 2 glowing 3-person arcane circle), the RNG chosen the DRG and the DRK instead. Yikes, just yikes.

DRG eats dirt being murdered by their own 2 orbs. Same goes with the DRK after stacking 5 vulns. The arcane circle ended up summoning two adds uninterrupted. I tried to res the DRK but Lustrate does not connect even though I saw those green digits before they eat dirt again (SERVER TICK, WHY?!). We ended the run shortly after by kiting the two adds (yay for Ruin II :P) separately between myself and the DNC as we chip off the boss' less than 5% HP at that point.

My comm goes to the DNC.

had an aurum vale yesterday where:
the healer did not heal at ALL unless I was in the double digits health and only then TRIED to heal but was obviously too slow at this point
the dragoon from famfrit apparently thought I was the cause of this and started giving me shit about something that didn't even happen unless I died due to no healing - "Use your AOE to grab aggro" - thank you dragoon, I have two tanks at 80, I know how to play the class
said dragoon also refused to do any damage at this point and just ran away from any combat, aggroing the whole room in the process and dragged them to me, who obviously melted due to 8+ mobs attacking me with a regen being sent in my direction at 35% not really helping
"I'm not going to fight because it's a loss of durability because we'll die anyway because of you", like, ????, at least TRY????
the sprout machinist was the only one aside from me who noticed what the healer was up to - spamming holy in narnia while the dragoon stood right fricking next to them while I get again bashed to death
we kick the healer (would've personally have rather kicked the dragoon because he was being super whiny) and voila, the run goes fine, even if the dragoon continues to be a bish which even the new healer quickly realizes and chews him out for lmao

it's such a simple dungeon and white mage is such a simple job at that level and why do people have to be so fricking egocentric???

just had a snowcloak where the whm was only using cure 1 at the beginning but happily switched to cure 2 and regen when the rdm and I told them that it's better - and even started using holy when we told him what it does! he was glad for the advice, too!

Spent an hour in the Vault.

Healer couldn't do mechanics on second or last boss and kept dying. One of the two RDM couldn't do mechanics and kept dying. Both of them left after the fourth wipe on the last boss.

Replacements come in, including a WHM that knew what they were doing. We clear.

I don't like scholars when I'm tanking. They can never seem to keep me up.

Fair enough, even when I choose to tank, I had the same sentiment. The ones that I came across are either stellar on-point, or absolutely terrible in performance.

This could be just a me-problem. I could've probably spent so much time in Zadnor, so long that I've forgotten how regular DF folks perform. I'm going to pick one from several runs that I did several hours ago: Orbonne Monastery via Alliance Roulette as an AST.

All three tanks really love to press their Provoke. Ours (C) started the voke and managed to hold aggro most of time. Surprisingly my party manage to react quite well with the ever changing directions and not getting hit 90% of time. The other two however weren't so lucky. Eventually past Agrias, somebody started a vote dismiss but it didn't pass. Somebody from A left so I suppose that was the person who started the vote.. Only -then- somebody brought up about the voking war and the chat turns somewhat sour.

Reaching Thunder God, tank apologized that they had forgotten this fight. No sweat. True to their own word, they almost never had their cooldown initiated at proper time (mm delicious unmitigated tankbusters coupled with vuln stacks!). No sweat, really! We made it through the encounter without problem, everything should be fine now that we reach the final boss!

... or is it? For some reason my co-WHM blurts "AST don't let me solo heal this, please." ... I mean... excuse me? I just replied "Really...?" but had no reply, which was for the best. I wasn't in mood to see another sour conversation on top of the alliance chats. That WHM literally healed so thicc with their Medicas and often buffs them with Plenaries that it essentially overrides A LOT of my heals (mostly regens). Who needs to -cast heals- when they already insist on topping up players?

I walked out with 5 comms, guess the other knew what was actually going on

I've met one that said they were "ass at sch" but did rather well, but then that run in the Vault I had an 80 SCH that couldn't keep me up. Like, did you forget how the class works at 57 or something? idk. We tried four times on that last boss before they left. They just kept standing in stuff. Vuln stacks on the second boss, bleeds on the last one. Wouldn't cleanse the bleeds, so it eventually killed them. It was just Hell in a handbasket.

I prefer to think it's not me, my cds are always refreshing and AST/WHM have no issues. I just don't know what the problem is.

Now to slog through 59.

I honestly think its because SCH is quite different in terms of healing style and output to WHM/AST. For people who don't understand the way their kit works and how shields work best, it can be a struggle and they'll more often panic heal because they don't know how to manage the class. Even though I don't play SCH, it's easy to tell the difference between someone struggling with how it works, and someone who's good at it. Sadly the skill ceilings with it compared to the other two are so vastly opposite that I naturally cringe when I get a SCH healer; never know how they'll play.

Always nice when they turn out to be an amazing healer, though.

Well props to the new people in final steps for following my directions and clearing it first try. Also props to them for following it a... little too literally. I told them to "stay behind the boss unless it does an aoe". Unfortunately I did not clarify that it was the stack marker they needed to stack for and avoid everything else. So cue 4 people running away to "stay behind the boss". No one died though.
