That's my thought on it as well. Height doesn't really come into it, but they could easily be mistaken for women, at least in passing - and may even want to maintain that misconception for some reason.

Yes, I just thought it would make it more plausible in comparison to some of the other theories. By "similar" I do mean around the same height if not slightly taller or shorter. To be clear, because some people meant like Roe height and monstrous or female au ra height when using tall/short.

That want to keep androgynous might be a thing to play around with, too. For a long time (at least in the Ivalice canon) male Viera were said to be savage and feral. Can't imagine you'd get a warm reception if people had that prejudice in the back of their mind.

I remember when I said male viera looked somewhat androgynous, a few people jumped down my throat for it. I still think they kind of do look androgynous, at least in passing like Iscah said. I don't know why they would want to let people think they are women though lol If the intention behind the design decision of this race was to make the males a little similar to females, then they will probably be around the same height range as the females.

I've been doing height comparisons for some time now, and have been looking at other people's height comparisons. Before, I thought that male viera might be the same height or just a few centimeters taller then the females. But now I'm not really sure. Looking at these pictures, it would not be a surprise if they were the exact same height range, or if the males were just slightly shorter than the females by a few centimeters. It's really difficult to say with what we have. It's not that I'm against it, but I doubt we'd get a slider like female roegadyn has for male viera.

Honest question, do you have eye problems?

1. Triangle shape would make you more feminine than not. That's one of the problems with male Au ra.
2. A somewhat slim torso ≠ female; they would need wide hips like females for that to be a correct statement.

I don't know what men live near you but male Viera could not pass as a female where I live.

i still stand by my argument, same size would make the most sense lorewise xD. yoshi p also mentioned they based „a lot lot lot of artwork on female viera and paid attention to running male viera along side that concept“ (mrhappy interview)

Yup. Which is why transphobes have this past time of debating whether celebrities and athletes are truly cis or not by "analyzing" their body and facial structures. Often times becoming convinced cis people are trans.

I mean biologically male and female humans have different body shapes. For some examples: Men have broader shoulders, women have wider hips. Physical strength is also vastly different.

At a basic and fundamental level yes, men tend to have wider shoulders while women wider hips. However through years upon years of reproduction we've seen such a ridiculous amount of various traits and quirks being mixed an matched.

There's men built more womanly and woman built more manly. Trend =/= Reality.

To be fair, that would be a good argument if female Viera also looked rather androgynous, but they don't - they're very painfully clearly hot Victoria's Secret supermodels, and if we're implying that is their beauty standard for being a race predominantly female, then every single male has been treated or are even still seen as ugly ducklings if they're not feminine enough (perhaps that is the true reason they're exiled to guard the outskirts of the forest lol)

That said, a 'true androgynous' race would be an interesting concept, but I think it's a little late for that /shrug
