Our community is just sterile minus a few fun ones to watch highlights of. I’ve played since launch and would rather have a WoW influencer on YouTube in background as I play.

Nothing special really about the community when you’re forced to be sterile by the stoic guidelines.

Imagine hating on one of the biggest one’s like Asmon and think you aren’t the toxic one... That’s basically where we are at. “Your brain is smoother than mine so you’re toxic!”

Be happy anyone that wants to play has a go at it. Casual toxicity is what’s going to kill ffxiv in the end. Just like watching a very very slow car crash.

Honestly a larger worry of mine.
Sure there's the combat system and raids, and ARR, and the lackluster PvP compared to WoW, but genuinely I think our and Wow, and a part his own communities will be the largest detriment to him even being able to give 14 a shot for too long. As Bellular said in a reply tweet: if he takes this on his own, anonymously, without streaming? There's a shot he'll find something to like.

Frankly I'd like to see him do a transmog contest here, and I think that'd be one bridging mechanism for him to try and get in to the game more. Sure he won't know where the stuff comes from, especially if someone waltzes in with the old PvP stuff that's not available anymore, or some obscure piece of glam, but it's a start I'd say.

so since Asmongold is trying FF14 we need to set some ground rules. I recommend limiting world visits for Balmung server for obvious reason. We need to keep this kid friendly and not scare him off.

He should make a Crystal character for the memes -- we all know that Asmongold will go to a higher populated data center with a more centralized community. Its why most of his projects end up on RP servers in WoW.

Raid heavy servers would be the best for any new player. Friendly, not creepy, and above all tend to have a helpful player base. RP servers are the worst for new players. Creepy, predatory, and generally lacking skill.

There are better, but also worse. I remember well the persona he made for himself, and that's why I don't particularly like the guy, much less his fans. Even so, it's actually kind of a big deal that him of all people said he was going to try an MMO that isn't WoW, as it is more of a statement than anything. The man lives and breathes WoW, or at least he did until recently. Even he has voiced his discontent with the game, which is most likely part of what led him to try something else. But yeah, his loyal followers are more toxic than the man himself nowadays. lol

Oh god here we go. As someone who LITERALLY just got offered in game by an RP Free Company to "go thottin" on Siren of all places I can tell you this MMO has a very strange underbelly to it. Maybe hide some of that away until he plays the MMO for a few days.
