Funny enough, we are also living in a moment were Japan is pushing back against western "global standard". One of the many "non controversies" were around similar topics to Lilja.

He looks entirely "white" to me. I'm not seeing olive at all. Certainly no reason to declare his "inspiration is definitely not white" or even consider him inspired by anything in particular - he looks like an anime catboy produced by the character creator here, set in a generic fantasy village. Also when looked at in his custom deliveries photo (which is neutral lighting, since Kholusia has red lighting), he has a more olive toned skin reminiscent of north-african/egyptian people. Regardless, his inspiration is definitely not white.
I don't feel like species-race is the only sort of variety needed though. There are also cultural groups as a separate layer to race - Kholusian Mystel and Kholusian Hume are very similar in what they do and how they live. Different cultures and ideas are what makes it interesting, instead of drawing just from the generic fantasy European setting while relegating the more "exotic" races to bit parts.
Saying that is enough to make them "PoC" is another example of why I really don't like the term PoC. It's so broad to be meaningless while defining one really narrow group as "not PoC but the default to compare everything else to".

If you only counted the "main" group of Scions then yeah. There's actually a bit more clans variety in the Scions outside of the main group. After all the journeying, the scions seem to have only really recruited G'raha, Estinien, and Yugiri (who is now seemingly busy with her homeland now the scions have saved it). They don't even have full representation from the ten base racial clans from 2.0 which are all seemingly represented in the Eorzea region.
I wish those people are being involved more in the MSQ, especially since some of them have been around since ARR. Hoary Boulder and Coultenet even have their own triple triad card.
I full-heartedly support this request. While we might not get a PoC Scion, 6.1 might introduce a darker-skinned character for the next part of the story. I am excited to see where that leads.

Takes some balls to say 'perhaps a main character could be black' on a JRPG gaming forum. Maybe you could water that down to 'a single visibly asian character who is a girl with a blue stripe in her hair', it'd get more traction among some of these guys.
One day I'll be the MT mountain I want to be... But that day is not today. (As of Patch 3.2)
I think they are trying to avoid something like what happened on January 6, 2021 more than anything.
As for Lilja, she's dark skin; I haven't seen the term gyaru being brought up in the world that XIV exists in. Last I checked Rava Viera are dark skin by default (it's the only skin tone you can choose for them); there's no pale skin for them to return to. Being able to return to pale skin is the defining feature of a gyaru. Furthermore, Viera in no way are a reference of asian culture; if a gyaru was to exist in XIV it makes more sense for it to have been a female Au ra as that's the race that has a real life parallel to asians.
As for the topic itself, yes I still support it; it would make the game a lot better. I will also create a salt business to collect the salt of those who oppose dark skin characters in FFXIV.

Good luck convincing these people to include any sort of diversity. ^^I think they are trying to avoid something like what happened on January 6, 2021 more than anything.
