No New Races... But New Clans?

Isn't that more unique to the royal family? Solus' descendants were/are absolute units by garlean standards but most others we've met have been tiny compared to them.

Varis and Zenos are indeed particularly large, with Solus being described as more unexceptional in height for their kind, but being strong of body is not unique to them, no.

Though Garleans are known for their large frames, the body he wore was by no means exceptional in that regard, nor was that of the woman he took for his wife. Yet their firstborn son was a prodigiously tall and robust specimen, unprecedented even among his kind. As the boy grew, his physique was held in awe and admiration by all, though to him it was a source of great vexation.

We've had several instances of them being fairly tall as well. There's some exceptions, like Aulus, but one must remember they've had to survive in a very harsh northern clime, without much inherent ability to manipulate aether, so the above makes sense.

i don't think they would do anything that would require a completely different model.

What I would like to see is
Hyur/Elezen mix race like Hilda which is basically hyur with slightly pointy ears, with maybe new face options
A new Miqote clan that is more feral like in that they have both the eyes of the sunseekers and the fangs of the moon or even have more variety of tail option like fox tails as one example. Perhaps their culture could revolve around hunting powerful beast as a test of courage and strength and their connection with nature. (thinking like Norn culture in Guild Wars 2 although a little more matriarchal)
Lalas from a snowy mountain place with pale/blueish skin and facial hair options to better match that dwarf theme. dwarves of the first were pretty cool, to bad their beards are a lie.
If they ever get roes that don't have square noses and sausage arms I will likely roll a femroe. Perhaps somebody like Gosetsu as an example.

I honestly hope they just expand customization more. For example, I'd like more racial focus tattoos that are not just limited to the face. Let us put tattoos in other places as well like arm/arms, torso/back, and leg/legs with the option to only have one side have one. Allow us to use mutliple tattoos as well... and not just be something tacked onto glam. Give miqote tribal tattoos, give elezen emblem tattoos, etc. The tattoos is just an example of something that could be worked on.

Ahhh Garleans. Look, I'm extremely biased and would love for them to add that race even tho chances are so slim its basically nonexistent. I do wonder how pureblood garleans will look like once we go to Garlemald. Will the devs only make use of tweaked male!highlander and fem!elezen models to portray them or are we actually gonna see new models for the race?

I'm all for new clans if that includes extended character customization. Some races right now all have a bit of 'same face' going on (especially Elezen females). We need more variations among the races. For example: Softer roe faces, more feral-looking miqote, menacing looking female Au'ra (black sclera's should be an option like the males), more make up options, longer hairstyles, etc.

Not to mention BIG thing people have wanted for years like the option to change your Au'ra's horn/scale color, horn styles separated from faces, hrothgar face/hairstyles to be separated, Unlockable hairstyles on Viera, etc.

I actually don't like the idea of clans or subraces or anything like that. It just segregates the character customization option. Nonetheless, it is an established part of the game, but I'd rather they don't add more and instead increase customization options for each existing clans.

Ya, but that would require a more expansive character creator - don't think they had time to do that, or since it was already eastablished in 1.0.
But yah, it would have been nice with a better character creator - it's cool lorewise anyway, with differing tribes, so personally i think it's good to have distinct features.
It's like Europeans, Africans, Asians - it's cool with mixed races, but it's great with distinctions - the line-up is pretty bland, for all clans.

I would love to see new clans I would specifically like a clan of blue lalafell aliens that have an antenna coming out of their forehead.

The only thig we need is Half Elezen. Everything else is already covered or would be as game breaking as Hrothgar heads causing people to have to spend real cash for fantasia.

The argument can be made for more customizations options for existing races (Aura horns color & face/ horn separation, female Xaela Au ra missing their black sclera, Male Highlander Eyebrow option, face/ feature combinations being added, ect...), & is something most feel is more important now that the missing gender debacle has been righted.

The precedent for Half Elezen has already been set with in the games lore, their implementation would be far easier than nearly any other race (Lupin would be easier i suppose with it just having a dogs head on a hyur body...), by simply reconfiguring Hyur faces to have Elezen ears, shared hairstyles & rigged emotes from both races.

To say nothing of the fact that design decisions made by the animators changed base Elezen concept art can be argued to have had a direct result in their popularity.





The fix is simple: Give us the option of this, please.
