No New Races... But New Clans?

I'd rather see something more distinct, like thicc hyur that are more barbarian-like.
Roes that are less bulky
Miq/Viera that are more feral, furry.
Slim Fey-like lala
More scaled Au'ra.
Hrothgar is kind of borderline furry Miq already, so maybe warewolves.
Elezen more beautiful/Fey-like, along the line of female Au'ra.
But this is basically the same as adding multiple new races.
If it's just in name only, then there's not much point, except for RP.

Well, given how large Varis is and how Pureblood Garleans are described as being very physically powerful and imposing, I think they could work if they were given appropriate character models that are not based off of a slightly tweaked Elezen model.

its a cool idea but im not sure what you could do with other races that are aesthetically different
like Au ra and Hrothgar would be easy Different colored scale/fur
but Hyurs?Ishgard elezen maybe?

I actually don't like the idea of clans or subraces or anything like that. It just segregates the character customization option. Nonetheless, it is an established part of the game, but I'd rather they don't add more and instead increase customization options for each existing clans.

Being the one male Viera who ran away from the forest and made it to Eorzea isn't that impossible, and once you're there, there isn't much to remark on besides that Viera might generally be regarded as exotic (but that goes for both genders).

Garleans, on the other hand, are the common enemy and every time you meet new people they would rightly be wary of you. The few "friendly" Garleans in the earlier stages of the game (Cid, Lucia) cover up their third eye to pass as Hyuran.

I think it would seem far more strange for a character to be Garlean without drawing comment.

And I disagree. I think it is stranger to be a Hrothgar in Ul'dah, a Duskwight in Gridania, a Xaela or even a Raen in Coerthas, or a male Viera just about anywhere, compared to a third eye which can be hidden via glamours or hair. In all honesty, I think it's little more than the fact that some people don't like Garleans because muh "villains" that leads to such tortured logic.

SE doesn't really go to any great lengths to provide a lore explanation for new races, which are meant to apply backwards because your character is supposed to be the WoL from the outset (unlike other games where this assumption isn't the case), and leaves much of the mental handiwork there to the players. I don't see Garlean Purebloods as posing a unique challenge in this respect.

I think they could add more options of customization instead of new clans, and they could add just one more small race to be a counterpart of lalas, maybe a furry one xD

perhaps with the addition of more customization, new clans may become unnecessary.

Isn't that more unique to the royal family? Solus' descendants were/are absolute units by garlean standards but most others we've met have been tiny compared to them.

I think this is all exactly what we won’t see. This requires more than a new paint job - it requires new models, new skeletons, new animations, etc.
