When they themselves have stated that they are aware of it. Sometimes they've said so several times yet people still continue like they would be oblivious to it.

I'm familiar thanks, but your repeated use of the word nagging makes it sounds like we have some sort of direct line to the devs and are bothering them by not just being quiet and patient. I'm sure they'll be just fine if we keep posting or nagging about it here.

This is also the first 'detailed' answer they've given about it in almost 2 years that gives any sort of insight into what the plan is or how far they've progressed so whatever you want to call it, people are going to discuss it and be either excited or slightly annoyed.

You went from criticizing people's tone towards the devs straight to ad hominen by avoiding the topic and attacking a person's authority to question and discuss the lack of hairstyles and hats/helmets for female Viera (and Male Hrothgar). It doesn't matter if they're aware of the request/feedback, people are free to discuss and bring it up; Square enix's customers are not their enemy, they're stakeholders. That's management 101.

Focusing on tone is a slippery slope


Square Enix is multi billion dollar company that has been around since 1990 something, they can take the heat. It's one thing to respect them, it's another thing to baby them. Babying them is what allows them to cut resources from the game and shift them over to things like Avengers or other projects. It's important to keep the pressure on; blind loyalty is bad for any product/service. If an mmo comes out that delivers in character customization and mmo elements I'm definitely inclined to jump ship until Square Enix gets their act together.

Now, they have me with Male Viera, well if they're tall; if they're short I'll just wave it as "at least they're here." But nevertheless, they have me with just adding male Viera. Moreover, half-assing things is what got us to 1.0, they lose our loyalty when they add races without their opposite gender and with limited customization. Everyone knows they messed up, even themselves. I don't know who they were kidding with 8 hairstyles and no hats/helmets support. They rushed them to get them out for Shadowbringers, but now it's time for them to cut back on the budget for gpose coding and gpose stickers and other things like ocean fishing.......and focus that money on this subject; well that's my opinion anyway.

Back in 2013, there was someone who was fervently defending SE for some topic I no longer remember. I replied to them that they should not be above criticism, and lo and behold, I got a warning for criticizing Square Enix. I suppose it's on me for not reading that clause in the ToS, but after that event, I rarely even post in the forums anymore. This whole Hrothgar/Viera debacle actually made me come out of the woodwork to contribute with my measly two cents.

As much as I agree with you, experience has shown me it's easier to just stay quiet and observe from the sidelines. I'd wager this is also one of the reasons the forums are not as populated as they could be.

i am sorry but i really don't understand... does it mean after waiting 2 years without any news they are just starting to address the issue and just starting (maybe) working on new hairstyles that might take another 2+ years to be added? ..
and we gave up on hats already so i don't understand why talk about it more than hairstyles when it's the real issue here .. this is not promising at all

They really should just make viera and hrothgar more racial hairs if it’s *~*so hard*~* to give us anything else. We already know they can do it considering these races aren’t bald. I don’t really want to hear about development cost being the issue- they can spare the development cost for everyone else to make them tons of hair. They can do it for us for once after two and a half years.

I'm kind of curious just how bad the clipping IS for the other hairstyles and hats, considering the amount of hilariously bad clipping some of the gear - and heck, some of the hairstyles - already have. Like, some of the existing Viera styles already clip into your shoulders, and some of the other styles look weirdly disconnected from Miqo ears as-is.

This isn't even a sarcastic comment here, I'm just really curious what their standard actually is lol

They need to add more racial hair and the aesthetics ones. Then include hats for some of them. Wouldn't fix the issue but could be a temporary remedy for this curse.

Personally I can sort of understand the hat situation but in that case I feel like if they can't figure out the hats issue then we should at least be getting some new hairstyles.

This feels like a pretty weird comment from him (probably translation). He gives a reason for Viera not being able to use stuff and that's because of the long ears. Is there a reason for Hrothgar not being able to get more stuff given other than the unique design? I ask this because several pieces prove they're willing to put in the effort for Hrothgar, one of which being the level 80 AF NIN helm, which actually conforms with the face perfectly and doesn't seem to clip at all.

I don't care about hats. They never said we were getting hats, in fact they said we wouldn't get them. It always confused me how people seem to keep thinking that viera are going to get hats, and keep asking about hats. They aren't getting hats. The only new information here is that they look to have confirmed clipping as being the primary reason on why they will not add them.

Along with clipping I suspect another reason being the fact that some hats alternate haircuts, and apparently modeling this for Viera with their... pretty wild hairs (in comparison to other racial haircuts, that is) might be a pretty depressing process. Most common haircuts we have a fairly simple in its primary shapes.

It's pretty much exactly what he's been saying for the past year, but I do like the confirmation that (much like I've been saying for months now) they think "let it clip" is not acceptable and that a proper solution would be something else.
