    Okay, what about an alphabetical rating system (A, B, C etc.) BUT, the lowest rank is A, and that A rank encompasses 60-70% of the playerbase. Above A there could be S, S+, S++ etc. depending on how specific you want the tiers.

    This means it is impossible to know someone's exact skill from them being in the lowest rank, as that is 60-70% of players. This means it can't be used for harassment.

    Also, nobody will get their feelings hurt because everyone gets at least an A rank.

    And finally, it still gives an opportunity for those that care to gauge their skill level without being too specific. You could literally make the S+ rank set to the minimum threshold required for the ultimate version of that duty etc. This lets the more serious players know if their performance meets the requirements for high-end duties without hurting anyone's feelings and eliminating the risk of harassment.

    Would anybody have any issues with this system?

    I personally have no issues with a rating system, but I don't know if that's something the devs would care to develop and maintain through various job and battle system changes over various patches throughout an expansion, let alone into future expansions with an ever growing list of jobs and duties.

    They can't even make duty recorder work for all duties.

    They could call it "Damage Rating" and it could literally be just a set of universal thresholds where x dps = x rating. And then, like people currently do with parsing plugins, the player could manually determine which rating is good enough for which job in a specific high-end duty.

    As long as the lowest rating corresponds to 70% of the playerbase, which means the A rating is normal.
