    SE has already stated that they want regular content to remain trivial to the point of a few good players being able to carry bad players. Healing has to remain trivial for that, unfortunately. Light parties have one healer, if that healer messes up or dies, it's almost a guaranteed wipe unless you have a RDM/ SMN at appropriate level that reacts quickly.
    Don't get me wrong, I'd welcome more actual healing. Not full-time healing just something that doesn't get covered by the occasional oGCD and maybe even forces you to GCD heal every now and then. Right now you can take the Akh Morn in the new expert with 3 people and don't need to heal between hits. If you were at something like 70-80% HP (depending on gear), you're fine. But apparently SE likes it this way and that severely limits the options.

    Someone will certainly correct me here but I think the root of all of these issues is that no one on the Dev team actually plays a healer. I believe it was said some time ago but I remember someone saying the Dev team, specifically the job design team, does not play healers in the game. They all play as other jobs and so if that is true then I can certainly see why their solutions to healer issues has been a little lack luster and that they believe the only thing healers can do with down time is DPS.

    All the ones I've heard of have been DPS mains.

    at the moment yes, there was a tank main but he either got moved or chose to move during heavensward if memory serves.

    You'd have thought that dps mains would make everything a dps rather than making cure bots, but i guess they use the opportunity to design the tanks/healers from a dps player's perspective (guy who stands in front of the boss and personal cure bot respectively)

    I wouldn't even necessarily mind this approach... if they made healing more intense elsewhere. 24 mans, EX and even Savage all have trivial healing requirements barring an occasional Savage floor. Sadly, they don't. Only to then wonder why an increasing number of healers complain how bored they are spamming Glare/Malefic/Broil endlessly.
