Mostly you will find, that such insults are not endearing to getting Japanese businessmen to react in a positive way. A little politeness, honey instead of vinegar, is a better method.

I wish you a lot of genuine hope for more hats and hair for Viera, but please consider if it might help your cause more if you were not to beat people over the head with outright abuse?

A child who asks for something politely will always be shown more favour over a toddler throwing a tantrum and screaming out names.

I actually agree with you, but... *points at male viera thread*.

Yep. It's a long standing mega thread, with a whole lot of positive amongst the tantrums, which are just as disgusting as the OPs. I really hope more hair is made compatible, and that more hats are added, and that even old stuff is retooled to fit. But really, abusing the developers isn't the way to do this, and should never be seen as the way to do it. This thread, the bunny boy thread, the height slider thread, ANY thread. That rudeness and hostility is not seen as a positive by the Japanese, and needs to be called out, so it's toned down.

Yandere, whilst living up to the negative side of the personality her name describes, isn't doing anyone a favour starting a hair thread with outright abuse.

I'm not going to co-sign all the language used but we've been asking politely for a long time as well between all the angry threads and we get bupkis, not even a response beyond "wait a little longer" and then nothing.

So I do agree, but it wasn't just the mega-thread on here only cherry picking the ones asking nicely that got their attention, so clearly making a lot of noise works and pays off. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, other comments I'm sure you've seen as well, the thread itself is fine of course.

Yeah, I made that thread when female viera and male hrothgar were first announced. Like, pretty much immediately after that announcement as the stream was happening if I'm remembering correctly. So a lot of people, still fresh off the stream, were upset. Some people were complaining about how it was sexist or whatever - which I never agreed with. After a while, I think the comments upset about the perceived sexism and etc died down.

I think being vocal helps, but another thing that helps a lot are likes. If you have a request, I think this is the best way to go about it:

-Thread title must be clear about what you want.
-Make it clear what you are requesting in the beginning of your OP. The fluff can come afterwards.
-Stick with one thread. If there's already an existing thread with the above criteria, use that one and keep it alive posting relevant/on-topic posts.
    -Leave a like.

Player feedback is most likely compiled and then sent to someone on the ffxiv team. They don't read every single post because there's way too many. What's easiest for them to see are the number of likes.

The vitriol and immediate upset about male viera died down because there was 0% chance they were going to add them in a patch during Shadowbringers, you were always going to have to wait for an expansion to see any news on it.

We're not requesting something to be added that wasn't originally planned, we were told before launch they were going to be doing this and then patch after patch hairstyles come out we can't use so the tensions flare up again and spill out of the mega thread into the rest of the forums.

I'm pretty much always active in the mega thread and would encourage everyone in support to post there instead, but if OP feels she wants to make another thread she's free to do so because it is frustrating.

It died partly because of that, but also partly because many other people pointed out how it made no sense to call the devs sexist. A lot of people called those kinds of comments out.

Anyway, I don't doubt there will be more hair options. I don't really know what the ffxiv team's work flow is like, but I suspect it's more efficient to work on hair and head gear after the character models are complete. Since the devs decided they were going to add male viera, it makes sense then that they would hold off on the hair and head gear. Perhaps it's just easier to have the male and female models done so they can work on hair/head gear in tandem.

The hair and head gear is coming. Just slowly. The graphics team worked extremely hard to live up to player requests and expectations. Working on female hrothgar and male viera is like adding another race - they may be the opposite gender, but it's pretty much the equivalent of a new race. It's a lot of dedication and hard work.

They aren't ignoring the hair and head gear. It's just a matter of work flow.

I completely agree here. We have a right to be angry and upset, no one is taking that away from anyone. But things that are approached in a calm manner are more readily given attention than things approached in anger. We can complain and whine all we want in the forums, it is the best place to do it. But word choice is important. We can have civil, friendly conversations while being upset. Those conversations are always the ones that go further than ones spoken with anger and vitriol.

I'm upset too. I want to use the hairstyle on my Viera. I want to use hats on my Viera. I've spent a lot of time in previous expansions grinding hairstyles and hats so I can customize my character. I really want this to be addressed. But I do think there is a right way to approach things and the way this thread was started really isn't it.

The truth is not always pleasant. What I said was neither filled with anger and vitriol, or meant to be affable and placating, as I believe sugar coating the truth to be ineffective and pointlessly clouding the situation for the benefit of those who are at fault. What I said is very reasonable as it is a continual ongoing issue specific to a race in the game (arguably two if one considers Hrothgar as well which is fair, although their situation is arguably unique in its own ways), and greed being an accused motivation is perfectly in line with an entity whose purpose is to garner profit from consumers. Let's be clear. Square is not a person, it is a corporate entity. Greed is the most reasonable and likely explanation for why this matter is not resolved almost two years later. It's not some emotionally charged wild accusation made in anger. This idea that corporations are your friends with your best interest in mind is nonsense. They come into existence for the purpose of making more money. I will never understand the culture of corporation worship that seems to creep into some's views. But, it's really besides the point of the thread.

There have been countless threads about this issue. Some angry. Some rather polite. This is why the concept of time as a factor is extremely pertinent with this matter. Regardless of which you think is more effective, it's so far beyond that being something to even address in regard of relevance to the topic at hand. We are far past the point of that being a reasonable explanation for why it isn't addressed. It's been done every which way already. Now is the time for due criticism and a very reasonable demand for the matter to actually be addressed. Time has made the matter worse, not better, not more acceptable. This has shifted from an issue of not meeting initial expectations into one of continuous neglect and avoidance and several layers of expectations being tarnished by a corporation. It was not even given a hint of awareness in fanfest. Yet another hair that this is being applied to is a rather perfect point, at this point in time, to make another thread about the matter.

By all means, talk about it in the megathread too, but this deserves its own thread just as well. And, I think how I addressed the matter is more than appropriate given the context of the matter in regard to how much time has passed since it was first brought up almost 2 years ago with very little communication in response to it from Square or its associates.
