Everytime I see a thread about Parsers and people saying there's no official way to check your preformance I can't help but wonder how many of them know about Stone, Sky, Sea?

Because it will be more openly used and talked about in the queue systems content. Yes, players are doing that now and it shows that these tools shape what the community does to each other. If these tools will be openly talked about and supported by developers. Content that is not design around it, the players will abuse each other over it.
End game it is ok, I mean min/maxing is fun and doing the hardest and best content having the freedom to control what classes you want and players I'm all for it. We both know if the developers add this, and openly let us talk about it. What would happen with group finding systems.
SSS is bad because it doesn't take raid buffs into consideration and there is no mechanic to execute. And with that already not raid-accurate DPS check, it still doesn't tell people where their damage lands within other players and where they potentially mess up their rotation.

It does the job it's intended for, "Do you do enough damage to clear the content?" The rest comes with practicing said content. For the purpose of measuring DPS it's your only "Official" source of info.
Edit: If you can pass a DPS check without buffs then you'll be fine with buffs.
Or you know, with too many buffs. I'm not realistically funneling myself cards. It does the job it's intended for, "Do you do enough damage to clear the content?" The rest comes with practicing said content. For the purpose of measuring DPS it's your only "Official" source of info.

That is the thing classic WoW and WoW in general are min/maxed to hell. Sure the content is easy but why take a subpar class. That is part of the meme of pld just create your own guild. Though that is the structure of the game. FFXIV does not have the same structure mainly due to class play and interact with the encounters. At the core each class has a roughly similar game play loop compared to others within the role minus a few synergies but they are not so game defining like how it was with the Drg and the piercing debuff. FFXIV class system really does not lend itself to having a strict meta like other games. So sure even with the data driven community it would probably be more about pushing for a certain damage threshold expectation for given job and ilvl. Instead of pushing for certain jobs or comps like in other games.
In short the content in class wow was easy but let us be real why bring a meme class even for easy content.
That is why this tightrope act the developers are doing is really the only and best choice they can make if they don't want this tool in the game. Ask not to do it, but can't stop you. They can only protect players by not having you talk about it ingame or weaponize it against them. What you do outside the game however is your choice.
It is the best middle ground and only one that can be done. The players have the tools to improve if they want, while trying to keep some of that out of queue base systems. MMO community are hyper competitive leads to grief for people who are not. Even if the content is design easy or whatever.
Ok? You know my original point is simply this: There IS an official source to check your raid DPS. Is it perfect? No. Is it as accurate as third party software? No. But it is there in the game officially and people act like it's not.

But like, SSS doesn't tell you your DPS. It just tells you whether you're above or below a bar, and in scuffed conditions too. It's as good as useless.

And again for a third time, the point is it's there in game. The OP literally spent half of his post talking about how he's on console and has no way to check DPS when there is.
