its working as intended. SE made it so if the account is logged on from a different IP, it will lock the account. Its because of all the hacking still going on in ffxi.

To not get this messaged use the security token and keep it on.

Thanks for the clarification, It has never happened to me before. I take it it only tracks the IP when you log into the game, not the forums cause I log into the forums on my cell phone which uses a different IP than my computer and I have not been locked out.

Although, now that I think about it I'm moving on Sunday and that means I will probably be locked out when I move since I will have a different IP when I log into the game from my new house. Good thing I have my email linked .

If SE is going by IP, they weren't doing it in December.

Moved to new place, main account with the one-time password didn't lock me out.

And the Buddy Pass account did not lock me out.

Theories below since I can't say:
Someone that is not you may have tried to log into FFXIV several times and failed.
SE may have been trying to send FFXIV related news, newsletters, updates, or some such sort to the account's e-mail and was unsuccessful. And nows they want you to verify something didn't happen to you (I.e. someone hijacks your SE accountm changes the email address on file, now SE is holding up all activity until it's verified).

Using the token won't lock you out -- not having it will.
