Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

I think it’s possible they may work on fixing viera leading up to EW, at least insofar as giving them more hair or working them into the existing hair system, as there is no reason they should not have been included before. Having “completed” the race with the male counterparts, as well as making the decision to release the other genders as they were ready instead of rushing to slap stuff together for a double release, leads me to believe they will have more time to focus on getting it right this time around.

It would make sense that they fix vieras entering EW since we are having the "Full Race" and as we can tell they have the same model.
Female Hrothgar can actually wait, yes. They were never promised tho! on the other hand... hairstyles and hats have been promised...

This I agree with 100%. Don't get me wrong, I am happy about male viera. So many people wanted it, how could you not be happy? But the problem lies in the completely unfinished state of the races already released in ShB. Fix those first, as a priority, before adding to what needs doing.

It's for this reason, as well as the silence on the issue, that I fully believe they intend to leave viera and hrothgar races as is.

People can wait if they are given some hope of what is to come and I think alot of players in this thread has said that they just want to know it it is in future plans to give us what was promised. I believe we will get new hairstyles but with each expansion, sadly.

Could be that they are waiting until they have whatever solution ready to go before saying anything. I don’t agree with everything in games having to be this huge surprise but it’s just the way the industry is for the most part.

Personally, I tend to look forward to something more when I know what to expect. The only exception is story, obviously.

I was looking forward to May for months. I wasn't expecting anything really, definitely wasn't expecting male viera, I was hoping to see a tease for female viera and male hrothgar updates. The ones they said they were gonna do: hairs, and new faces/heads for male hrothgar. I had been saying for months, I would switch back immediately if they announced something, because then I would have something to be happy about playing viera. Looks like I switched back regardless, but I digress. Hopefully leading to EW we see something.

That's all I want to! Say in the next live letter, a quick note to say we've heard you, we understand, we are still working on it and it's coming in XYZ or some form of estimate. I suspect the next thing we'll hear about it though, is that with release of male viera, and with the team not working at full capcity because of covid (completely understandable), they don't have the resources for it anymore. But then I don't understand why they'd put the resources into adding another player model to the game that'll require fitting and adjustments for every new piece of gear, and so increasing the amount of work needed for new gear over all.

Thats what I keep thinking for myself...why add on to your workload when you still have work that is unfinished. Its great that M. Viera are becoming a thing, but that doesn't do *ANYTHING* for F. Viera...same goes for F. Hroth not doing anything for M. hroth. THey'll also more than likely be released half finished too which is just ?????

I see the argument about "why do male viera when the female are incomplete?" a lot, it's not entirely wrong, but as a developer I can tell you that it's easier to revisit all the hats when you are already revisiting all the armors in game, it's a chance to add "adjust 50 hats for f and m viera" to a schedule that is already forcing the worker to do something similar, same happens with hairstyles, in this line of work a correct workflow can reduce the workload a lot.

I think cash shop items should be a must and a priority over regular obtained in game items in term of wearable head-gear for Viera and Hrothgar. They need the cash-shop hairs as well as their own unique ones. I kind of think they will get something but nothing great. It will be either super awesome if they do OR really meh in terms of updates for them. I was a viera for about two months because the hairstyles were not good. Fran, Mjrn, Jote and the Viera from the XII cutscene of Rabanastre should be options to choose from. Not hairstyles "sort of like" the ones I wanted. Another thing, is I wish the Hrothgar were never introduced as I would rather be a tall-standing Ronso. Not an awkward standing beefcake with a joke of a kitten tail. I think there should be a hair/item design specifically for Viera and Hrothgar after the female Hrothgar is properly introduced so that she is not left out- which seems a long time away but I feel that it would be worth it. It could just be a case of wanting both gender models out before any real changes were made, but a word from any of the developers during a live letter would be super nice. I'd go Viera in a heartbeat if that was the case.
