    This was my interpretation as well.

    Though I have a crazy theory that the Lops are Amaurotines that somehow managed to survive and since degenerated and/or evolved in to space bunnies.

    Someone please replace Emet-Selch model by a Lopporit on the after-Hades cutscenes.
