Yeah, I'm clinging to the idea they'll stick to the standards alluded to in the male hrothgar concept art, where they rejected designs that felt too close to existing races (miqo'te in specific). That's my concern as well. I worry they'll try to appeal to the majority of the playerbase and not just... keep them bestial in appearance (facewise, like males). Even if they did try to appeal to the majority, there's a high chance they won't be as popular as Miqo'te, Au Ra and Viera anyway (especially when we take limited hairstyles and lack of headwear into account). I included Viera because they've been requested for since before HW days.
Basically might as well go full beast woman with the face, or why bother making them at all.
That said, there is a faint hope they can appease a few groups if the face types the women end up with are also as varied as the men's.

There's actually a fairly decent variety in how prominent the snouts are, for those who want less overtly Big Cat and more of a flatter face. Augmented slightly further with whatever nose is selected and whatever features. The first one listed is most popular by far, but it's hard to judge how much of that is "I wanted a more prominently lion-like look" versus "I could not cobble together all the features I wanted on one character, because the character creation is so restricted by face type." (An FC mate really likes the Kimarhi face, but not the manes, whereas I really like the sweeter face and eye markings on the second one up there, but then the inability to not have a beard, plus the available manes again...)
That is the flaw of merging separate playerbases or consumers into the targeted goal of "attracting" many players. You can't count on your current player base 'fantasiaing' under influence because you built them limited in mind via hairstyles and headgear. AND you can bet that negativity from current players is parroted to people outside the games circle that is interested in trying the game out. So its highly probable that they would not start out as Viera or Hrotghar and rather play another race already poisoned by the "flaw" of the games character creation experience. The worst scenario being they would not play the game at all because race customization and the gameplay are an culmination of development debt and half promises. No matter if male viera or female hrothgar is made "conventionally attractive" or not the amount of players playing them will be low even after the races are *fixed*. Not even the hype from male viera reveal is big compared to the job announcement and new data center.
It is why the "please the majority" clause is inherently flawed in this context of making a pretty or even butch lioness. However, Yoshida and the devs new tid bit of context for taking fanart as references or inspiration for Male Viera, is its own macro pocket of possibilities. Are they looking at art done by newbies? Similar art comparable to their concept arts? Or focusing on ones with high view or traffic attention? I'd look into the latter if handling the marketing division while adjusting them to fit with the opposite gender and the races overall design and lore philosophy. Meanwhile, fanarts of female hrothgar and most furry art in general with snoots or more bestial/animal aesthetics get over thousands of views and well over hundreds or again thousands of likes

While the art from ume_krs while from a newer artist is not even a quarter way to the same attention as the rest of the fanarts. And personally, the snoots are too short it looks like a dinosaur with cat ears and stick on Barbie hair.
For traditions sake of the male Hrothgar, give us a unique #4 face that is close to the what a female ronso is but more rounded like the males "khimari" one. The wait is also probably due to them making a new mesh coat for their fur textures so they would still need to make a custom face that would belong.
I'm expecting/hoping for a range like this
(with maybe cheetah tear markings on the leopard face for the helion clan)
I hope the fears of them being waifu'ed are misplaced, 'cause it's a stupid idea to introduce a new niche while also trying to appeal to a niche that you currently satisfy in abundance. Female Hrothgar doesn't need to be a popular race, they just need to attract those who would prefer to play as a female beast. Bringing new people to the game good, giving existing players something new to play with is a bonus. :>

You've pretty much nailed it! Fingers crossed that's how they'll proceed.I hope the fears of them being waifu'ed are misplaced, 'cause it's a stupid idea to introduce a new niche while also trying to appeal to a niche that you currently satisfy in abundance. I do hope the devs will have fun with the designs. The current hrothgar aren't just lions, and that's great. There's so many types of wild cat both big and small they could take inspiration from. I've even seen some speculative fanart previously that used Moomba (FF8) as a kind of base, which was a very cute idea.
Excited to upgrade cat size in a future patch. Never really thought they'd do it, but here we are.
Honestly i think it might come down to the hair, seeing some art tho they have similar faces and bodies the hair seems to play a big part in making them look "pretty".
outside of that, to differentiate from males it'll come down to body and/or face and i feel face is more likely to stay similar in that regard which is why im expecting a more lean build for the females (also hoping cause most gear would look awkward otherwise, already does on roes) also hoping the posture isn't a straight up hunch
I feel ya. I don't personally like to pull down 1 thing to raise up another so I don't really like to comment on a lot of the art I see but yeah ... fact of the matter is that if they looked like the jacked, male looking fan art their population would be far below even Femroe levels. TBH I don't think most people who post or signal boost that stuff would personally play it, we're just in an internet cultural wave of "inclusion" where people want all types to be represented + it's backlash to the ideal of sexual dimorphism. So ultimately it just smells of people wanting inclusion for "others" who might want that shape because they personally have no interest in playing that race regardless of how they look. As someone who played Femroe for years I know how cultist it is and that some people really do like playing the least played thing because it makes them feel like a snowflake, so I'm sure some people want them to be that way so that they can stand out when they play them.I'm not raining on anyone's parade, I just don't think female hrothgar as brutes is a very helpful request even if one or two people might like them. If I recall correctly, they took into account male viera fan art for the creation of male viera as they are now. I'm hoping they don't take this stuff into account for femhroth. If they HAVE TO use femroe as a base, hopefully it's heavily modified. I am simply advocating for femhroth to actually look good, so more players find enjoyment in the product.
The reason this thread is so tiny and the reason there's so lil fan art for them after 2 years is because people just assumed they would look like the lease liked thing in this game (Femroe) or like the outdated Female Ronso. Tis why I've posted tons of Furry and Tabaxi art, because that's more representative of the types of people who would actually play and enjoy a furry race.
Hell, the most common fan art used for Female Hrothgar is that "kimahri ronso gender swap" and the next most common people just pointing at the Bless Panther females and saying "That". Like, that's legit what you get when you search "Female Hrothgar" and for the past several months it's been, by a mile, the most up voted Female Hrothgar thread on reddit which I find funny because it's not even a "Hrothgar", it's years old fan-art of Kimahri as a woman.
Hopefully they aren't fetish bait like male Viera are.
I'm super hyped for female hrothgar! I don't think I could fantasia my femroe main into one (she's been with me for over 5 years), but I will definitely ceate an lionmommy alt! My personal dream would be for them to look similar to the pantera/Lupus races from Bless Online (plus a tail) since they in my opinion are a very good balance between beast/furry and... well... animu waifu. They have the ruggedness of the female roegadyn yet the grace of the female elezenand very big snu sn energy. I suspect they have been posted in this thread before but a refresher won't hurt:
That being said, I could see how they are a bit too pretty/humanoid face-wise in comparison to their male counterpart, but nonetheless I am very VERY intrigued by what they end up looking like, I hope SE can at least tease us with some concept art in the near future. ^^
