It is bizarre how we've become slightly medieval like fantasy to "go go Gundam fighting force" so hard over the years. Between all the glam options, reaper now having that anime MMO animation vibe, the gundams like you mention and everything else... I wouldn't call it a Final Fantasy game anymore. Just generic Anime simulator with some FF references in it.

-headdesk- you must not have played any of the other games. This is literally Final Fantasy. This is how the series is.It is bizarre how we've become slightly medieval like fantasy to "go go Gundam fighting force" so hard over the years. I've played most of them actually. I do not expect them all to be 1-3 obviously. That said, every final fantasy had some kind of setting with rules of how that era behaved however. This one clearly doesn't. If you want to excuse it for being an MMO, FFXI didn't have this issue. There was some advanced technology sure, because of an advance race wiped out... as did FFXIV at first. However it was a tame sprinkle of content. Which is fine. Now we seem to have more advanced tech being randomly found then the tech level of the surrounding world we're in. THAT is an issue. Also I don't remember the other FF games weebing out as hard as 14 has. Hence my comment on the glam and new reaper animations.
Think maybe all that head desking is creating memory loss if you think otherwise.

pretty much every ff has some sort of super advanced lost civilization
"Stop right there, criminal scum! Nobody breaks the terms of service on my watch! I'm reporting your illegal mods, now enjoy your time in gm jail."
Most other FFs don't have you find as much ancient tech as XIV, while at the same time, most don't span the number of years in game than FFXIV does. It is only natural that as tech is found the tech level is going to change.I've played most of them actually. I do not expect them all to be 1-3 obviously. Reaper struck me as Bloodbourne meets JoJo meets Death Note. I know a few people that are super hyped for it.
I mean... the whole 2.0 story was about us taking out a glorified Gundam suit. Garleans have always been super technological, and with their two most prominent engineers working for us and a scion of Allag allowing us to access more ancient tech, it makes sense than we're seeing the fruits of that labour.

You're comparing single player games with an ending to XIV with no ending. Ofcourse the tech is going to grow. That happens... hell it happens in one of the single player games too. FFX to FFX-2 so yes just like the normal series. XIV isn't doing anything different but not ending. My point still stands.I've played most of them actually. I do not expect them all to be 1-3 obviously. That said, every final fantasy had some kind of setting with rules of how that era behaved however. This one clearly doesn't.
