I think the problem is that it doesn't actually change their proportions, it just scales them up or down.

Also note that generally character faces are a similar size and the taller characters have smaller heads relative to their bodies.

Too much range in height/scale and their heads will be huge or tiny compared to everyone else's.

Not an issue for female Roegadyn, would not be an easy for male Viera.
I've never seen anywhere in my 7+ years of FFXIV any female Roeagdyn player complain about head size, and most of them hit the height slider to the max.

Exactly, it look very close to female viera (who are already tall imo, 191 cm is not bad).
Smallest female viera is 1 head taller than max male miqo, so making female viera and male viera same height works fine (and it's a good change compared to other races imo).

Well the only reason why they did made Au Ra so small is because no one would've played that race otherwise. Erpers don't like stong females apparently.

NO. They shouldn't even have done that with the Au Ra to begin with.

Would you rather they had made tiny dragon men, or giant dragon ladies? Because I can tell you just from looking at and this very thread (and the current femroe population) that almost no one would have played either.

I think female Viera blows that assumption out of the water.
Female Au ra isn't condemned because they are short, their design is looked down upon because of their counterpart (male Au ra) who are very tall.

We do not need to repeat this with male Viera. Do I want a short/same height male Viera? Sure, I don't want to take something away from those that want them short. But to refuse to make the height slider have a range that would let them be taller than the tallest female Viera is not a great decision; I can understand if in the lore they want male Viera to be presented as somewhat short, but from a gameplay and character creation and player standpoint it artificially limits them. Those of us who wanted to make somewhat normal looking human male character we're basically left with Orc-shaped Roegadyn, animal Hrothgar, or giraffe proportions Elezen.

Male Viera has a chance to be that middle grown which covers both the short end and the tall end like female Roegadyn did on the female side.

Yeah, that's around where I'm expecting. Taller than Miqo'te, shorter than (or just crossing the lower boundary of) the "tall races". There's a bit of a gap there that's only filled by Hyurs, but who wants to play as a boring human when you've got all these fun things?

No, I'm not entirely sure why I ended up maining a Midlander either.

Plus it's another blow to the pride of my poor Miqo'te who used to be the big tall warrior in his home village only to get out into the wider world and realise prettymuch everyone else towers over him. (He's not amused by it, but I am.)

I mean if you frame it that way, where do Midlanders (can be taken to 0 muscle tone), Elezen, catboys and potatoes fall?

But that's to do with the build. The build of bunny men is similar to Midlanders, Elezen and catboys - people just don't want them to be super short. What they're asking for is an elegant alternative to Elezen, like Viera females are.

I think the wider height slider scale (a la roe women) is the right way forward, but based on comparisons like this it does look like they will fall at least at a very similar height to the females (and that is assuming the male there is maxed out.) Obviously the range is the unknown.
