6.0 Story Speculations

Having seen the full trailer, my wild mass speculation fever dream is that

Fourchenault -- after Zenos, Fandaniel and the ancient primals -- will be the character of the final boss that has to be addressed before whatever series mascot (ahem, Zeromus) that is the final trial.

A sane person would observe that very little from the trailers ever happens in quite the manner shown, but I'm taking Fourchenault's lines in the trailer as seriously as a crackpot.

Y'Shtola:"So, Sharlayan would keep its council while the world is lost to ruin."

Fourchenault: "It would. Come what may, we shall live on. We must."

• What incentive do they have to abandon the world? Speculation: Sharlayan has something to gain.
• Fourchenault seems pretty sure they're going to 'live on.' I think this is because he actually knows that they will.

So, I wonder whether Sharlayan has a place they know they can go to survive. Like the past. Where they directly, knowingly causes the Sound. And as they watch history repeat, they harvest the fractured worlds and then rinse and repeat.

I feel like they comparatively showed off very little in Labyrinthos, which makes me wonder if there's some parts of the zone that would be considered spoilers.

If I had to guess it's likely being affected by the coming of the Final Days somehow and that Sharlayan's little "just hide underground" plan is not going to go as smoothly as they might've hoped.

Assuming they continue to hold to tradition, it might be another one of those zones we only explore partially on the initial visit then return to it later.

EDIT: After realizing that the tower dungeon is underground, I have a hunch the towers might actually be spreading outward from Garlemald like the roots of a plant, which would mean they're inevitably going to reach Old Sharlayan and possibly start breaking into their safe haven with all the unpleasantry that entails. It would certainly help explain how they seemed to just suddenly appear out of nowhere if they had simply been creeping up on Eorzea from below for who knows how long.

I also have a further hunch that Anima is both the "Garlemald" primal as well as the "you-know-what" that Fandaniel mentioned at the end of 5.5, which would help explain the creepy bio-mechanical appearance of the towers if they're all actually extensions of its being.

It has been implied the Forum was rather obnoxious on top of isolationist, which was one of the reasons Matoya stayed in Dravania. The AST job quests indicated the Bibliothec faction were the hard-liners, with Sevestre being willing to resort to kidnapping and murder to prevent knowledge from leaving Old Sharlayan.

We should no doubt prepare for that type of action against the WoL and the Scions once we get to Sharlayan. They already revealed in the trailer they fully intend to be the only civilization to survive the Final Days when all evidence points to how no one will survive unless the Final Days is stopped. Their stubberness and superiority complex may lead to plenty of assassination attempts on WoL and the Scions just to make certain they never leave Sharlayan with probably a major key to stopping the Final Days while Fourchenalt may imprison the Twins in hope their imprisonment may have them wait out the Final Days in Sharlayan.

So I think we know five of the new zones out of the usual six.

-Thavnair
-Labyrinthos
-Mare Lamentorum
-Garlemald
-Unnamed Sky Island

We can figure from the trailer that we're not getting any more map revealed, so I figure if they're going the normal the route then the sixth area we're getting is either a 2nd moon zone or possibly mainland Hingashi.

They specifically stated there was multiple zones on the moon, so it's safe to assume the last zone is up there.

While are some caves in Mare Lamentorum, I'm expecting the final zone to be a deep dive into the depths of the moon where Zodiark is imprisoned...though I wouldn't mind something more outlandish and unexpected like an alternate dimension of sorts akin to what games like FF IX and X presented in their finale as opposed to a simple underground cavern.

and I was thinking that if that is indeed Venat she might be a valuable source of information on what was up with Azem during the Final Days. If they truly went after the source of the "sound" in an attempt to stop the final days we already know they failed since the world you know.. got split into 14. However, I'm super curious on how Azem goes from "I reject the summoning of both entities" to being called "Beloved Son/Daughter" by Hydaelyn. Does Venat holds some resentment over the rejection to her plan?
I'm incredibly excited for 5.5

I mean generally when I see a circle drawn on the moon, I think more crater than hole. I know you're probably talking about something like Lunar Subterrane, but I feel like that's more likely accessed from the castle we saw in Mare Lamentorum than anything else.

When does Hydaelyn call Azem a beloved son/daughter?

I was referring to this part of Heavensward after we fully restore the blessing of light and Midgard lets us on his back after we're deemed worthy

"Warrior of Light. Beloved son. The Light abideth within thy heart again. Full valiantly didst thou overcome thy many trials. But glory not in thy success. For the servants of Darkness are ever close at hand. Receive of me my blessing once more, And go forth, to shine thy Light on all creation."

My bad if I phrased that awkwardly but I was wondering how does Azem go from opposing Hydaelyn to his souls reincarnation on two different shards becoming valiant Warriors of Light? Being called Champion of Hydaelyn seems a full 180 no?
