Ok, may I was overstating it being related to Bloodborne. Ignoring that, what do you all think of my "Huntsman" class idea?

Axe and a Pistol? Nah, not gonna happen.
New jobs need unique weapons, so for Physical Ranged, we've only really got Crossbows left, but that would totally work for a 'Huntsman' style job.
Maybe Whips if they make it a sort of mid-range job.

Why wouldn't it happen? We have neither a one handed Axe nor a one handed Pistol class, plus many have been wanting the Musketeer class, this would be a good balance without making it too much like Machinist. Also, my idea would have it be a Scouting+Aiming Melee DPS, not a Ranged DPS.
Machinist is a one-handed Pistol class. but handedness aside, we're not getting another gun class. Why wouldn't it happen? Musketeer was the base class for Machinist before they decided to scrap base classes.

Machinists do not use Pistols, they use Carbines and Musketoons, albeit with one hand. And, we have 4 sword classes (Paladin, Dark Knight, Red Mage, and Samurai), so having another gun class (where the gun isn't even the main weapon) is not out of the question.
Oh great, this debate again...
1. Those are all different classes of sword. This is a Final Fantasy game, it's just how it works in this sort of fantasy setting. Many different classes of sword, one form of gun.
2. MCH uses Pistols. Many of it's weapons are pistols, some are shotguns, some are even sniper rifles. Besides, if you think MCH uses a Musketoon, then why would you suggest Musketeer as a Pistol job?
3. You've severely misunderstood final fantasy job classes if you think there's going to be other gun wielding DPS job. For the thousandth time, it's not going to happen. We have our Gun DPS job, we have our gun tank job too, GNB. Only hope was for a gun wielding Chemist as a healer, and that hasn't happened. You could loosely say Sage uses firearms though.
4. We're also not going to get another job with an offhand weapon, and I'll never understand why people think we're ever going to get some kind of 'combo' job that uses TWO different weapons. Insane.

The Axe and Pistol combo would count as one weapon, like Ninja's twin Daggers or Red Mage's Rapier and Focus. And, once again, it would be a Melee DPS, not Ranged. The gameplay would involve stringing together combos with Axe slashes and Pistol shots, to put it simply.Oh great, this debate again...

Fun fact:
When planning 3.0 one of the first jobs the devs worked on was a gun toting Chemist.
Due to balancing problems with the Mix command and the desire to implement an all-new weapon type, the idea was scrapped. Mixing items turned into drawing cards, and chemist turned into AST.
The gun side of the scrapped chemist became MCH.
