Male Viera Lore Possibilities? What brings them out of hiding?

Yoshi P did confirm in an interview during fan fest they have written new lore to incorporate the male viera into the world and it wouldn't be they just "suddenly reproduced and appeared in big numbers."

What are your thoughts? We know the males live separately from the females and remain elusive within the Greatwood. However, I am assuming with Eorzea on the verge of a new calamity and the mass-destruction, it would naturally force them out of the woods to join the fray?

It seems the females are the dominate in the Viera race, and the male designs do seem more delicate. I have to wonder while they are warriors, if they tend to more of the domestic needs of the tribe, such as gathering, hunting and other types of work.

(My more funny theory is the male viera are so much prettier than the females, out of jealousy they force them to live in isolation).

I love how so many people are like "what is bringing them out of hiding???" or "this breaks lore!". I can't understand how some players literally forget that the world is on the brink of ending and has been in great unrest for a very long time.

Which also proves that male viera are much better bros than Sharlayan.

I was just interested in theories. I don't have any issue with "lore breaking" this wasn't supposed to be a negative thread. I was just genuinely curious, but I guess here on the forums you can't be.

For real though. Even if the expansion were not about the end of the world, the player character has always been separated from lore conventions, and is treated entirely as a special individual.

Not because he will miss the others but because he can't hear the Green Word anymore, and the silence is deafening.

Not to ruin your backstory thing, but the Green Word isn't actually a voice in one's head. It's just the name they have for their laws.

There is definitely something about them hearing the voice of the forest and losing the ability if they leave, whether that's what's termed the Green Word or not. It's probably in the sidequests around Fanow.

Yes, this must be what I had in the back of my mind when I came up with my backstory!

If it's described around Fanow, then it's a specific phenomenon to the Vii's of the first. The viera wiki page doesn't mention anything about it. Unless they're being entirely metaphorical. I remember a side quest in Fanow about the Viis realizing they should try and reconnect with their exiled sisters, but i don't recall it mentioning anything about them hearing a mythical voice of the forest, and how they're cut off from it if they leave.

As far as i know, the only canon creatures that can literally hear the forest are the Padjal (Seedseers).

But really, there's always rebels to any community who escape and go exploring elsewhere for any reason you can think of. Trade's a good one. Or they might get word of bad stuff going on everywhere and feel like they can do something about it. Beyond that, I suppose anyone can make up anything they like to explain it.

I'd assume this new lore is being written mostly for the sake of male Viera NPCs being introduced in 6.0 who might have an actual backstory attached to them, not so much player characters.

I expect we're at least going have one as a role quest partner.
