The Reaper familiar in the showcase trailer and in the art seems to just be chilling with/Embracing the WoL. My little pet theory is that this is a reflection of us from the 13th shard. Maybe they couldn't fully rejoin themselves but still want to keep fighting for the salvation of the world so they teamed up with us? I like them! They're nice!

That does sound possible. Though I wonder if that revelation will be revealed at the end of the job questline at 80? The shade does merge with us for extra abilities, even if its temporary.

Labyrinthos as an underground zone with Sharlayan-style architecture makes me think that it's actually a homeland version of the Antitower: a research colony established deep in the earth to study the Aetherial Sea and Hydaelyn. In that sense, the reason we go there would be as a stopping point on the way to Hydaelyn herself.

As for Zenos... I have a feeling that the way Yoshi-P and Koji mentioned that he had Job-changed to Reaper means that he must have an avatar of his own. Does he absorb Fandaniel to use him as a 4Reaper avatar?

On topic, I haven't finished a playthrough of FF4, but there were certainly a lot of callbacks to that entry. That game also had a blue tower on the moon, didn't it? What was it used for there (speculating in case its another intentional callback)?

I feel like Reaper starting in Ul'dah is specifically so the Order of Nald'thal can get on their case (At least temporarily) because as far as I'm aware, they're the only ones who have the okay to partake in sanctioned voidsent summoning and the practice is otherwise strictly forbidden.

I'm also curious as to when we'll get the lore blurb for the job to know where it originates from and what its purpose is.

Off the top of my head, so take this with a grain of salt...

The palace on the moon was a combination of several different functions. It served as a place to hold the Moon's Crystals—crystals in that game are essentially a repository of knowledge, history, and wisdom. It was also the resting place of the Lunarians, who entered a state of hibernation in the hopes of waking up to the day when humanity were their equals.

Furthermore, it was the entrance to the Lunar Subterrane, a massive underground cavern surrounding the Moon's core... basically, the Moon was actually a Moon-sized dyson sphere/spaceship, so to speak, and in that game's ending the Red Moon actually breaks away from the Blue Planet's orbit to travel into deep space for... uh, some reason. And finally, the Lunar Subterrane was also where Zemus was imprisoned in order to keep him from attacking the Blue Planet and trying to exterminate humanity.

Looked like Penelo's recoloured green is the Striking set and a recolour of Basch's for maiming, It looks like Al-Cid Magrace's clothes for Black Mage (Better come with some chest hair).

Also Vritra (Sp?) is the youngest of the first brood.
