Yeah, seems to be more like using an ability, but instead of you performing the attack, the avatar does it, which I like. Not really a fan of a "proper" pet job as melee, or at all really.

Like I said earlier this thing is almost exactly like Living Shadow from Dark Knight:

Conjure a simulacrum of your darkside to fight alongside you.
Simulacrum Attack Potency: 300
Duration: 24s
Blood Gauge Cost: 50

OGCD attack tied to a pump-and-dump job gauge. It can almost be guaranteed that Reaper will have a similar set up for its voidsent. The class is a DPS specced Dark Knight with some different animations, an extra combo and a few gimmicks like its version of Delirium gives the character's outfit a new temporary skin.
