Unukalhai was a waifu this entire time, I don't know how the FFXIV community will ever recover if that turns out to be true. :P

We know the Mhachi eventually reverse-engineered Ambapori golems and created at least one of their own. It was that mini boss we fought just before Ozma.
The nullstone is what gave Mhach dominion over the Voidsent and while that is no more, maybe Reaper soulstone acts as a mini nullstone that only works on very weak voidsent. Or maybe we beat the voidsent to submision and becomes a symbiotic relationship: why take over and risk banishment when you can have a steady supply of aether to consume?
But I'm more curious about its job storyline. Since its taking place in Ul'Dah could it be a secret organization that's main focus is to hunt the undead to release their souls?
I noticed in the trailer that on the map alphys dad was pondering over had a gap in the clouds just below garlamald.. any idea what it might be https://gyazo.com/1c70bda4cdf9ee2afb7f5aa8e9f0b8a8

Unfortunately even the Eorzean Map doesnt show whats thereI noticed in the trailer that on the map alphys dad was pondering over had a gap in the clouds just below garlamald.. any idea what it might be https://gyazo.com/1c70bda4cdf9ee2afb7f5aa8e9f0b8a8
With the level 70 requirement I doubt it will be an Ascian, since you would be able to start the questline before all the big Shadowbringers reveals. Unless they don't reveal their identity until 80 I suppose. With the death and whatnot, I wouldn't be surprised if they're from Lea Monde, the Republic of Landis, or somewhere in Garlemald. If they wanted to give us a curveball, the trainer would turn out to be another Ascian who is basically keeping out of the main conflict and just watching what happens.
Being from Lea Monde as a nod to Vagrant Story's undead would be amazing but I don't want to get my hopes up.

Have to say i agree. Really happy they’ve gone with a darker theme job to shush those naysayers saying “we can’t have thief or necro!”. It’s been a long time coming methinks.

Rewatching some things:
-The nautilus shell design that serves as Sharlayan's emblem appears in the first "Pandaemonium" dungeon on the floor.
-Labyrinthos' architecture appears closer to an undamaged form of the Dravanian Hinterlands Sharlayan colony than Amaurot. A local aetheryte uses the
-The music in the dungeon crawl, at least the organ riffs, sounds like an up-tempo version of "Golbez, Clad in Dark" from IV.
I'm inclined to believe the Reapers are an extremist, possibly heretical offshoot of the Order of Nald'thal.

That Sharlyan guy (who people are saying is the twins's dad) could be pointing at the floating island area. That could be the key area before we go to the moon.
Reaper stole the show a little bit from Sage. Then male Viera told Reaper to hold his ale. I'm having a hard time debating if I want to stay MNK/SAM or go REP(RPR?). Been wanting a cool gothic style class for a while, seems almost every expansion I end up changing jobs for some strange reason but end up going back to MNK at some point. I'm kind of hoping Reaper sticks because maiming gear is always the best looking next to tank.

The Reaper familiar in the showcase trailer and in the art seems to just be chilling with/Embracing the WoL. My little pet theory is that this is a reflection of us from the 13th shard. Maybe they couldn't fully rejoin themselves but still want to keep fighting for the salvation of the world so they teamed up with us? I like them! They're nice!
