How can you compare? Which other races are "missing some"?

And yes, characters get given hairstyles all the time that aren't accessible by players. All the major NPCs with unique hairstyles or faces, probably most relevantly Au Ra with horns that don't match the normal face like Yugiri and Mide.

yes but you are comparing unique NPC to generic NPC its a little different
like obviously story characters are gonna get privilege
but characters that are just there to give the place more life
i really doubt it

I don't care that viera can't wear hats. Since after ARR all hats already look ridiculous on miqo'te so I got used to not wearing them... Might swap one of my alts to male viera since I still have free fantasia.

I'm not going to stretch this argument out, but it is clearly a thing that they can do with NPCs if they wish to, using their special dev powers that the players can't replicate.

Therefore the fact that they have done it with some NPCs, even unimportant ones, is not proof that they have worked out how to let players do it too - because they have the ability to do it other ways. So you can't assume it's a sign that they've worked it out, especially when it hasn't been released in the meanwhile.

That's exactly why Miqo'te, Midlander, and Au Ra are the most popular races for males, and why Roegadyn, Highlander, and Hrothgar are the rarest.

People want to play as pretty boy anime protagonists.

Male Elezen would be more popular if their proportions and animations/emotes were different.

Male Viera will probably blow up even moreso than female Viera did. Because unlike with females, people don't mind playing as tall males. (Remember how many threads were created requesting that female Viera height be reduced, also the same reason why a lot of female Viera players make them minimum height).

The only thing that will hinder the male Viera's popularity is their limited amount of hairstyles to choose from.

That's why the Hair/hat issue won't be fixed. The kitties would be a dying species.
