REVIVE INGAME ITEMS FOR EVERYONE

I'm perfectly fine with unavailable items in an MMO.
It makes things feel more alive.

This isn't some rando offline game. You can't collect ever item. I think that's kinda cool that some people are decked out in nifty limited items. If anything it diversifies what you get to see in a crowd, and thanks to limited items you end up seeing more unique things.

I don't see why this not being offline means I can't want everything?

This already happens when you gate things behind difficulty or time investment or even gender though. It's not like given the chance everyone would wear the same thing? People have personal tastes and preferences and unique concepts of their own.

My point being that citing FOMO being effective isnt a good reason to keep it around. Maybe you should have lead off with the unique gear loadout thing.

I'm just agog at between all the games I play and forums I frequent people actually DEFEND FOMO tactics like we as consumers should want them.

I have a feeling your tone would change if new players were given exclusive items not available to already existing players as incentive to join.

They already do? Or at least have done in the past.
Last time I got a friend to join they got a bunch of stuff I never got.. some exp boosting head gear i think bieng one example existing players can never get but new ones can.. .

sure there have been other items exclusive to new players too.

New players were given an EXP boosting item to catch them up with the current base, it probably only matched the EXP boost we would have received while levelling another job while having at least one maxed out. The only other thing I can think of are the mounts for people who got a friends to join, but in that instance both players received the item I think, or just the friend referring them.

The point was it was an item new players had that was exclusive to them. existing players cant get it. so it kind of defeats your arguement.

You bet, guess you're right there exists one item new players can get that serves one purpose that they cannot use late into the game since you will want that slot for a stat item instead so clearly veteran players would never be upset by mounts or other items that new players receive that they could never get. Totally the same thing.

What purpose does the legacy tattoo serve? You can't use it in anyway.
Same goes for that moogle hat someone mentioned?

None of these exclusive items serve any real purpose. The only value they have is in what they represent and signify...

What can my legacy chocobo do that absoloutely any other mount in the game can't do?

The only reason people want this stuff is because somehow they feel inferior if they dont have it...
And as someone already said most of it hardly gets used anyway. I cant tell you the lasttime I saw someone actually use the legacy chocobo mount or the gooobue for example...

Are you referring to the friendship circlet? Because you should have received that as well. When I referred my first friend to join (though this was back in Heavensward days) and when they hit a certain number of days subscribed, I was sent that, the fist bump emote, some crystal that when I used it lets me teleport for free to the nearest aetheryte to a sprout on my party, and I think some other stuff.... I think ultimately I got more than they did, with the main different is they got silver chocobo feathers that let them get ironworks gear while I got gold feathers that gave me access to mounts, dyes, etc
