Favorite "Official" and Unofficial couples in FFXIV?

I really enjoyed the stories with the Alchemist guild leader.

I don't really like Graha, but the thing with him and Lena was really nice (even if it was relatively one sided).

Least favourite? Almost everyone that is all hot and bothered over my character that I can't just shut down.

I never got a romantic vibe from Merlwyb and Eynzahr - very deep trust, but not attraction.

That's why I said the relationship is similar to Mustang and Hawkeye from FMA. You know something is there and it's most likely their status that may or may not be keeping them apart. Honestly, I'd be surprised if they didn't have a kid already, lol.

Also sad that we barely know anything about Varis' dad/Emet's son, as apparently Emet really loved him and was devastated by his passing.

Well, maybe not the professional side of the respective relationships, which have the same sort of "absolute trust in your crazy plan" partnership.

Beyond that it's been far too long for me to comment on my early impression of whether Roy and Riza were implied to be a couple from the start (and whether I today would think the same way I did... would it be fifteen years since the show was new? More than that?), but they certainly were by the end.

In any case I've never gotten the impression you're getting from Merlwyb and Eynzahr. They seem like they have history together, but not romance.

Wait, Lyna? As in the guard captain?

Oh no. Nononono, that is not what they were going for. She outright calls him "Jii-chan" at a point in the JP script, which is a shorthand affectionate term for "grandpa" which is the bond they were trying to show for those two. Exarch watched Lyna grow up since she was a baby and even baked her a cake for one of her birthdays. It's very much a parental kind of affection, not a romantic one.

As for my contribution to the thread: I'm not much of a shipper, and I'm never going to be. That said, I feel like I'm the only one who sees this weird tension between Krile and Alphinaud. Iunno, it seems she always singles him out the most of the scions.

Shoutout to Thancred trying to get with F'hlaminn for a hot minute.

Oh and as mentioned in this thread: You can't tell me Sadu and Magnai aren't made for each-other.
