Try looking at glamour that is not job specific, I'm a dancer and there are way more options than just cowboy hats and trench coatsYup. What I want the most is crafted/tome/dungeon/raid gear should lose its "role" (Casting, Aiming, Healing, etc) when used as glam so anyone can equip them. There are so many gear I like but my Dancer is stuck with cowboy hats and ugly Aiming trenchcoats that clip with my Chakrams. Glamour is the real endgame, just let us mix and match everything like in Rift (dead game but their wardrobe system was amazing).

I feel personally attacked by this statement /s
Those pesky technical limitations the FFXIV white knights refuse to admit, despite the reason (technical limitations) coming directly from Yoshi-P himself.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

WoW is running off of an engine built in 1998 and they figured it out. Rift...Aion...GW2 are all examples that had far better systems designed for the long term. I despise Blizzard but lets not pretend like this is an excuse that works in 2021. If this MMO is that limited then that is an extremely sad state of affairs we are in if this is the most we can expect from FF14.
Off hand statements like that tell people that FF14 has no ability to evolve or compete with features from the competition is not good enough. The player base accepts it because in multiple other areas Square Enix is extremely competent compared to the competition.
There is a reason I am telling them to trash the entire system and rebuild it from the ground up because it is overly limited and unable to evolve in its current state. We have Ultimate bosses with 50+ mechanics that takes 20+ minutes of perfect coordination but you want to tell me these same developers cannot come up with something better then the glamour system?

wow i think got their glam system by literally outsourcing the entire thing to a team that knew what they were doing. xiv could do the same thing but its built on a shaved down square-enix only engine, meaning the only people who are good at dealing with that were on the xiii or xv teams, who have probably been assigned to xvi and viiremake.
its probably in the cards but is going to take a while.

Yeah the glam system is an absolute nightmare. I swap glams all the time, and half the time I make a look up on the fly or swap around 1-2 pieces, so I barely even use the one good thing that's come of it (glamour plates) because it's so freaking inconvenient. My glams are spread across two retainers and the glam dresser, and I'm constantly having to weigh pieces against each other to toss out the ones that I like but not as much as everything else just to make space for the new pieces I get. Even more fun is, when I try to throw together a new look, I end up having to run back and forth between my retainers and the glam dresser to actually even access everything I DO have. It's a huge hassle, requires a bunch of unnecessary menu hopping, and often has me wasting what probably adds up to hours at this point just staring at my inventory and asking myself "which piece do I care about more? which is more annoying to go and get again? if I throw this out am I gonna forget it exists and never see it again?"
It's just a clunky, inefficient, and utterly non-user friendly system.

I'm not sure this was already stated in here or not, but can we also add on getting rid of the whole class specific glamour system. Make glamour's interclasstual. I wanna glam my bard up in Dotharl cloth, but cant since it seems to be caster only.
They can't build it from the ground up. Yoshi-P said so.There is a reason I am telling them to trash the entire system and rebuild it from the ground up because it is overly limited and unable to evolve in its current state. It's barely functioning as it is, a house of cards so to speak. A result of the terrible coding and a bad game engine. It doesn't just check if you have the gear in the glamour dresser, 1 for yes 0 for no. Every single piece that's in there has to be loaded separately. They had to do it that way so they could even put it in the game.
Again, this isn't me saying it. It's Yoshi-P.
What you're suggesting hasn't been done because it CAN'T be done with the current game architecture.

Even before you get to the non-job-specific stuff, there are quite a few pieces of aiming gear that suits dancer. I feel like anyone who says it's "all trenchcoats" can't be looking beyond the recent tome and raid sets at Eulmore.
Between the marketboard, dungeons, old tome gear and niche content shops like PVP and the Gold Saucer, there's a lot of stuff out there that can be used for nice dancer glamours.
If only I had enough glamour plates to actually make a DNC glam...
Never going to happen, YoshiP was rather clear about it.
