So... interesting enough that Final Fantasy XI: Online has a transmog system that (I'd actually like), however, seems to be hit or miss with the XIV crowd here. In XI, so long as we're the appropriate level (meaning the level of the gear itself), you add it to an armor set, and lock it in place. Then glamour it over your current gear. Doesn't matter if it's class specific or not. So long as you don't change your job ingame, the glamour stays on the entire time. And allows you to unlock it and lock it back up (before glamouring over it again). I'm not sure what system they use to make that possible, but would make the transmog game incredible here in XIV. As an example in XI, I use parts of the NIN set from Abyssea (that's class specific) for feet pieces, and the O.Kotes for hands, and then the BLM body piece or other components from other Jobs > lock it into the set > glamour the set over my gear > and bam! Doesn't require any amount of glamour plates or anything. It was a nice change to the game in recent years, but again, not sure how it works behind the scenes to make that possible. Glamour is the true endgame, afterall lol

This is how and why we got the Chocobo Saddlebag.
More inventory space you can use however you want.
The devs really seem to struggle with giving us more inventory room (having to redistribute the armory chest slots from belts hints at how limited they are in just giving us more) so while it'd be nice to have a tackle box, and a backpack for your gathered mats, and dedicated storage for your crafted items, and so on... it's not gonna happen.
If they add space they add it in ways that doesn't restrict how players can use that space.

    Which is good.
If they added a crafter backpack (or whatever they'd call it), you who wants dye storage and bait storage would be SOL. But if they added more inventory space in general it can go towards addressing all needs.
Yeah, it's just wishful thinking in the end due to how unlikely these are honestly (though the reason given is kind of new to me). But one can hope! (even if that hope leads to naught)

She loves collecting the gear but hates that the game prevents her from farming it properly? lol

Imo shes right its one of the things they should have done already, just get over with it, even if its a ton of work, do it properly ONCE and then itll last.... not band aid some space every now and then, hoping the servers wont explode....

I don't really think it's a competition here. Any specialized inventory would be a benefit in the long run.

I'd prefer a crafter backpack, because there are far more types of crafting materials than the others (and sifting through retainer inventory is a definite pain), but if we got dye storage or bait storage, I'd still be happy. Being able to store even one of those items separately would free a lot of inventory slots for everything else. And having one would be a good precedent toward getting the others, eventually.

I appreciate that it's not going to happen, but it's a lovely fantasy.

I feel like I’m being punished when I buy an outfit on the mogstation and it doesn’t go into the armoire. The one thing preventing me from outright throwing another few hundred dollars to buy more mogstation glams is the lack of space in my glam dresser which has been capped since stormblood. It’s always a pain to decide which items to keep and throw away.

I can't help but agree, OP's aggression side. The one thing I prefer in WoW to FF14 is the transmog collection system. I wouldn't even mind having to use a glamour prism to unlock the appearance in the collection system. I just want to see what I don't have, so I can look at potential outfits, and not be limited in the storage of glamour appearances.

Just a heads up, the general excuse given for things like this is "memory allocation" or "spaghetti coding leftover from 1.0."

I'm fully in agreement with you. The system seriously needs updating. I haven't played WoW since WotLK. When I saw their glamour system in a youtube video it made my chest sink with how sad I was with ours in comparison. I'm usually comparing XIV with other games in how XIV is so much more modern and upto date with a few exceptions (Viera / Hrothgar makes me so sad and disappointed, legitimately), but man was WoW's glamour system nice.

Seriously, the only thing I can think of for why we don't have an unlock system like this and GW2 is just the sheer amount of armor that's in this game compared to those. I think Yoshi stated there's something like over 10,000 pieces? (someone please correct me on that if I'm wrong >.> ). Not to mention the way armor is made in XIV compared to WoW. With WoW, I believe it's just the model's skin stretched out for like robes and stuff. Most of the armor in WoW is very low detail, mostly looking like a curtain with stretched over graphics (no offense, I remember hunting for that stupid scarlet bandana when I first stated playing). XIV's armor is extremely intricate and very high detailed. I think the servers has to load up every piece each time you go into your inn, so it's extremely taxing on their end.

This is all conjecture from stuff I sort of remember from fanfest for Shadowbringers - please take these points with a grain of salt unless you can find the exact quotes.

If they can keep adding achievments, fish, gathering materials and crafting recipes, TTcards, pets and mounts. orchestrion songs... all with a little "you have done this" check mark, then what's so difficult to do the same with a glamour system?

Not trying to be aggressive but point out a system that makes no sense with god knows how many events and expansions put out since this thing was originally designed. There are events I do not even bother with anymore or Mogstation items I get because of the simple fact I will have to destroy things just to deal with an arbitrary cap.

If Square Enix tries to tell me it is a technical limitation then I will tell them to upgrade their servers then. It is 2021 and there is no reason this cannot be fixed and if there isn't I want more then a one sentence answer on why.

Find me the tech guy at Square Enix and have him explain in detail why this cannot be fixed because it just sounds like a bunch of excuses at this point. There are so many features literally going to waste in this MMO right now. How about all of those Orchestrations we collect that would be nice if I could line up an iPOD list when I am playing the game to just have them playing if I disable the game music sound or something?

On topic, I agree that the system needs a revamp, despite being as new as Stormblood.

The only advantage of the glamour dresser as opposed to an appearance collection right now is that you can store dyed gear. So I always have key pieces in expensive dyes like the pure white, because is much cheaper to go from there to another color.
