Megathreads make more sense. If you're looking for community engagement on ideas it's easy to check one thread that has engagement versus thirty ten page threads that devolve into yelling matches.

I don't know what time you're referring to, but to my understanding, as it is, a bot account would still need an active subscription and to be at least level 50 to own property no? SE condones multiboxing and multiple accounts, so there's no difference in the current mechanic and the mechanic I've suggested as far as the ease of botting. The difference is the player time saved.

Check any other thread advocating for a similar issue. They either devolve into yelling matches or go completely off-topic, like this thread is. Best to just contain everything into one large thread this way the suggestions remain on the front page, and the threads don't devolve as there's a generic way to keep them on topic and anyone can chime back in with new ideas.

Edit: In case anyone wishes to discuss other ideas on fixing housing, ItMe made a wonderful megathread that acknowledges the multitude of Lottery threads already available to peruse. Part of the reason the NA threads feel like theyre ignored is because, unlike the FR, DE, and JP forums, we feel the need to individually discuss our ideas - regardless of whether or not such threads already exist. The threads fall off the front page because they're way too pointed and nuanced. Having a megathread allows us to discuss several different topics regarding the same umbrella-topic in a thread that will hopefully stay on the front page because it isn't a pointed discussion.

The housing megathread is not the most robust just yet, but I hope anyone looking to further discuss housing issues brings them up in this thread so that it becomes more robust and is able to steadily remain on the front page.

So these thousands of bots that *checks notes* would have to have an active sub to house the account, on accounts made to be disposable, to try to buy up cottage plots to sell to.. who? To another first time buyer so they can buy a lotto ticket? Yes, these are all going to be cottages because no one plays the clicking game with medium+. Those are relocation buys.

People already use auto-macro clicks for this system. Just let people use a ticket.

Let's please not harass anyone because of the megathread.
If they are happy with their own thread power to them. Not every voice has to join the chorus of the megathread, and trying to force every conversation into it will just breed resentment and bad vibes.

(And for what it's worth to both sides of this issue I don't think the idea of a weighted lottery has come up in there yet. So since OP likes their thread I'll probably add a link to it in the megathread if that's ok).

Lotteries would be a minor improvement (you basically register once during the timer and it randomly goes to one person who signed, so one click instead of hours) but ultimately won't fix much. The only two options are to make housing a high price relative to supply (so you have to work to earn a small and Mansions are mainly FC group effort) or instanced housing.

The player base is very strongly against expensive housing and instanced housing just isn't realistic with the amount of Dev work likely involved. If they could make instanced housing without excessive effort, they'd have done so instead of apartments. So here we are. Housing is just too cheap, any new player can pull a few mil together before even reaching lv80, so demand is through the roof to a point where the servers could never handle it if they made enough supply. We wanted affordable housing, so we chose this.

Long answer: No. This wouldn't solve anything really. Sure you artificially feel better but rng is rng and OP suggestion would punish people who can't be online all day, i.e working.
