GW II's saves an item's appearance once you equip it, and it's shared between all characters regardless of level or even faction allegiance. It's similar to WoW, except you don't have a catalog showing you which items you haven't gotten yet, and rather than paying with ingame currency they use something similar to glamour prisms that are mostly bought from the store (which you can still pay using ingame currency, mind you)

so apparently the only option that doesn't "stress the newbies" is either pressing 1211111111, or do nothing at all.

Anything you can buy directly from a vendor, or beast tribe, get rid of, unless you really use that specific shade a lot and don't want to teleport once to buy more.

Oh no I worship at the alter of Yoshi P and if you look up my name online I argue that FF14 is the best MMO in history. This is not the "Praise FF14 devs" forum but general discussion and I am just discussing an outdated feature that should be updated.

ALSOOOOOOOOO if you look around the internet when people compared "FF14 vs X mmo" the glamour system is always listed as a negative compared to WoW's system or actually multiple other Korean MMO's. It is just extremely dated.

It was never designed to handle more then 1 expansion. We are 4 expansion now worth of gear with a system designed for Realm Reborn. That is a major issue. It is like telling housing in an on the box feature when we all know it only applies to a small percent of the population.

It is an artificial limitation on a system designed to create scarcity where there does not need to be any. I find it to be a pointless restriction on players. Glamour farming would become my end game if they fixed this but it is not. Having a capped glamour closet is just a horrible feeling.

Both ESO and WoW have decent glamour storage systems. I hope FFXIV follows suit.
I would buy this if you could expand it on the MogStation but you can't! I swear it looks like something that was slapped together for Realm Reborn and they never realized how outdated it is when you add multiple expansions worth of gear to the game.

I admit that when checking out events like the upcoming Moogle Festival, after checking out the goods, I then painfully add up the glamour items I don't have, hope they fit in the armoire, and count up the housing items to stuff in my apartment. I know the armoire falsely has no limit as in I'm not staring at some number in the UI I am bumping up against and instead SE is just limiting what items go in there. Sure would be neat to increase that 400 limit, especially with more expansions, more jobs, etc. Or just find a better way period, but I don't see a new system being made before that hard limit isn't just increased.

I wish they would redesign the glamour system.

The current design is very archaic.
There is a reason other MMOs like WoW simply "unlock" an item's appearance after collecting it.
Setting a single bit flag per item model is much more space-efficient than trying to store the items themselves. The WoW devs themselves quickly realized this when players instantly filled their void storage (glamour dresser) after its introduction, and that's why they added their current appearance collection system.

I know the FFXIV devs are more than capable of fixing the glamour system, which is why it's so frustrating seeing them leaving it in its current state.

Yes, in GW2 you can see what you "Haven't" gotten yet. If you go to the "Bank" and change the tab to "wardrobe storage" you see everything in the game, and you have a search option as well. The items you have unlocked are in color and everything else is "grayed out" but you can "Try no" everything.

To Mykll - GW2 has a better "Dye" option as well. You unlock the dye and it works just like the "wardrobe", you see all options and you can "Try" all options but you can only use the ones you own. You can change your "dye" color for free at any time. Changing your armor, weapons, or back item uses "charges" that you can get by just logging in every day. They give you a "daily" chest if you log in, and in that chest, they hand out free "Charges". The chest items get better and better as it counts up to 30 days. Then it resets back to day one gift.

FFXIV is so good in so many ways, but on these stupid quality of life issues, FFXIV really drops the ball.

    look, im'a level with ya.
I hear that advice, and recognize it's good advice? but i'm a bit dimby, and either remembering what dye comes from where, or writing a note and remembering where that is, just as a cross reference? That's a lot more annoying than just buying a sheer quantity and never needing to buy any more again.
"I wanna use [x] dye on [y]. Oh, thank god I stocked up on [x], cuz idk where it's from."

Oh I get it. I am always looking up where something can be purchased on a vendor. I had extra dyes for years and only recently got rid of the ones with a vendor price on the tooltip. So yeah now if I want to dye something I gotta remember or look up where to buy it.

I did play GW2 for years and absolutely loved the dye system. Both in the forever unlocked dye color and unlimited use, which of course won't work here in this game. Didn't really mess with the actual gear glamour part though outside of dye.

There's a lot of useless crap in this game that just takes up space for the sake of taking up space. between dyes and fishing bait alone you could fill your entire bag. Now add on the actual fish both NQ and HQ, gear (again both NQ and HQ), food (AGAIN both NQ and HQ), mats ( Fing AGAIN NQ AND HQ). It's a complete mess that SE keeps trying to put bandaids on rather than doing the surgery needed. Honestly reading what I typed, they need to get rid of the NQ/HQ system and just make everything HQ.

Well they could add a option where a pice of gear that has stats and is class bound loses all its bonuses and become equipable for all classes. Basicly like the lvl 1 glamour gear that can be used by everyone. Also for the colors, i think the best option would be get rid of all items include the premium stuff and replace it with 2 new. The first can be used instead of all the grey icon colors and can be bought by any merchant that sells dyes, this one can be pretty cheap maybe something between 1k-10k. The second one should be handled like the premium colors now, you can get it from retainer ventures or buy it through the mogstore. The color palette can stay the same for the beginning. This would had 2 great benefits, first more free inventory for all players and second it would need less space in the database, cause less traffic and would be easier to manage.
