My argument is and has been that the gear level itself and player skill far exceed the boost that materia will give you. Upgrading a piece of gear from 510 to 520 will boost your damage in 99% of cases more than adding materia to the 510 piece will.

Tell that to Paladin/Dark Knight in Eden Verse where a 480 Head with 5 Melds defeated a 500 ilvl head. This raid tier? The Queens Pld Shield defeats Edenmorn with a penta melded craft ring. Don't believe me? Balance maths state so.

Edit: In the multiple past Healers raid equipment got defeated by certain Penta Melded crafts, and 1 defeated by a tome weapon over a Raid weapon because of stat values.

Sure mate, keep making ridiculous arguments over a great damage addition. There's nothing to use gil for in the game than like I said crafting for a bigger sum outside of raiding, nothing it's a fact. You shouldn't be going for a house if you cannot even afford 80-100k gil to fully meld armor. You can obtain this gil in 1-2 hours.
