Pattern is easy to read actually. 4th healer to stay in balance with 4 tanks. And a melee DPS to balance out the roster since it's currently 8 melee and 10 ranged. If you add the 2 classes you have 9 melee and 11 ranged.

And if you are a stick in the mud and hate BLU you can argue that there are going to be 9 melee and 10 ranged and 1 limited.

And that's 20 job classes. Game has come quite far.

When I think of what Necromancer can do, all I can imagine is summoner whacking someone with a scythe and that is how it gets dots. Maybe it has temp pets, perhaps voidsent, similar to machinist through resource spending and how it has machine pets.

So easy to read that everyone expected Samurai to be a tank and most were upset about having 2 DPS.
So easy to read that for ShB everyone thought there was going to be a new healer since there was no new healer since HW.
So easy to read that for EW, everyone thought the next DPS would be a caster because ShB brought a physical ranged and there's only 3 casters.

The 4th healer is not brought to stay in balance with 4 tanks, those roles have nothing in common.
The 4th tank WAS to keep in balance the 4th tank and avoid one being the "worst tank" like in HW where PLD was a joke and in SB it was DRK who was ridiculed.

The new healer is here because the community was upset about not having a healer for so long.
They add on the go, on the feeling and the need, not on a pattern.

These sub-roles are completely arbitrary and are just a flimsy excuse to justify the numbers and make them seem "balanced". There will always be more DPS jobs than tanks and healers because that's what the bulk of the playerbase plays. There will always be more ranged than melee. Not because ranged comes in both physical and magical flavours and these numbers need to be "balanced out", but because it's more comfortable for most people than tryharding up close where the bulk of the AoEs and mechanics happen.

Endwalker is introducing two subtypes of healers, and unlike the various DPS sub-sub-roles, this is supposedly going to have a much bigger impact on fight design and party balance. Do you think for a second that they're going to fill the ranks with two more shield healers and two more pure healers before adding more DPS jobs, just for the sake of balancing out these fictitious subroles? No, because that is not where the sub money is at. There would be no investment in either tanks or healers if not for the fact that they're essential to keep queue times manageable.

The smell of troll is real !

Like all seem to go to reaper but important detail goes against it also, like Yoshi-p mentioned it ( ofc more pro and cons can be brought up ),
Endwalker will not be: Evil is bad and Light is good. But rather something in between, a reaper class is completly against that,
( like Zenos having a scythe to bring chaos make sense but not for us anymore ).

Getting a heavy armor with scythe is kind of a real huge challenge... Because it doesn't match, and even so, to make the class happealing is a big deal !
It is also "maybe" too close to Dark Knight.

Personaly i'm still sticking with my "completly out of the way class": Judge type class weilding maybe two sword or something like that representing duality.
Yeah i know : p Maybe i'm too doubtful about the whole Reaper thing but i can't unseen the troll for the announcement !

One thing that really bother me is that the Viera shirt, the bugs bunny one, Yoshida acted "Heeey, look at my shirt".
This time, Soken tried to make a comment on the shirt but Yoshida kind of silenced him.

So we have a shirt for an American power metal band, a documentary on a British punk rock band and a Finnish death metal band (Children of Bodom). It would be funny if the Grim Reaper was the red herring and heavy metal music was the hint.

Well, the Sex Pistols had a song named "Gods Saves the Queen" and Gunnhildr has an attack named that.
Dunno what those metal bands could hint at: melee bard ? Are we going to play a Roadie ? With an axe and a guitar ? Summoning the Ohrmagodden to buff our attacks ? xD
