Why's the WoL Changing to Paladin?

Just a goofy aside but seeing as the DRK - > PLD was disrupted by some expansion, and Yoshida likes to make twists on concepts, I was thinking they may use the inverse Cecil here where Paladin goes Dark theme'd job.

Seeing either the more likely and obvious light vs dark, Paladin vs Zenos imagery going on, but a slight remix would be perhaps the Paladin does well and cool but just isn't enough offensive oomph and so he switches jobs and in this case it might be the first time the WoL shows off a new job. Nice visual if he does well on the defensive but determines the best defense is a strong offense and in flight warps into something else. Dark only picked because of personal bias, the light potential it might relate to Golbez / Ranjit (not saying literally), etc.

Most obvious of course is just FFIV reference, as Endwalker seems to be a FFIV party lol, but I feel it would be inline with Yoshida to make some tweaks to those references (and opportunity for me to inject my own pipe dreams ).

It wouldn't be the first time since we had Samurai in the SB trailer for WOL, but it could happen. Seems more likely to me though the new job will be represented by Zenos rather than the WOL.

Entirely possible, another reason why I thought it might be a dark job though. Although admittedly I'm twisting whatever is in the way into my favor of desire lol. Similarly when people were like "nah Ronso not going to be next" and I pulled out babylon mythology and icons to be like 'ye.. ' lol.

For whatever reason the last trailer is the only trailer I thought of and so no trailer had WoL use 'new' job lol.. fail XD. Thank you, yeh he did use a new job before.

Visually having light vs dark will be nice, and simply having Zenos "bad" is not quite the visual narrative- so if he was the new job, the best (albeit cliché) visual would be the light job vs the dark job. Seeing as we've Yoshida though I thought it might have a twist lol. That being the WoL inverse Cecils and or the enemy previews the new job (with me thinking inverse Cecil being more novel).

Isn't Final Fantasy is all about swords wielding major part of the characters? What else? Wield guns, some AK47, M4? huh I'm not playing The Secret World am I?

I'm personally hoping the WOL doesn't swap jobs mid trailer but that's my paladin bias speaking lol. We had him swap to a dark job in the SHB trailer anyway, I don't see them doing the same thing twice in a row. That was the whole thing last time around, I'd rather they not pull the same trick twice in a row.

True, and Paladin is pretty cool to be honest- one of my top favorite jobs in this game. Not deeply invested in him switching, I just want to see a dark job lol. Zenos rocking it would be well enough for me .

Would be epic to see Confiteor or some of their other big boom spells on display, maybe passage of arms .

It's not really a serious question. I know that SE couldn't resist the big FFIV DRK -> PLD transition reference. Just feel free to voice your own thoughts on the why of it.

For me it's like, "Oh hey, in Seat of Sacrifice, Elidibus was really onto something... I'd look cool with a sword and shield!"

I mean, it does seem like the WoL is easily impressed by other jobs when they're shown.

Like from ARR -> HW the Derplander is walkin' in, and sees a DRG or two just straight up delete a dragon, and then immediately trades in the WAR stirrups for that sick gauntlet, kah-schungt!

Then in Stormblood they're Monk to properly spar with Lyse I guess, but go on to become Samurai after the Far Eastern excursion, I guess mainly to fight on parity and beat Zenos with the own weapons that he wields.

Shadowbringers he seems to have switch to DRK out of necessity to fight with the Lightwarden/Sin Eater in the trailer.

But so far, for Endwalker it doesn't really seem like there's a reason outside of the script calling for it. A gil for your thoughts?

Because Casters don't sell expansions and they couldn't have put a healer on the cover or anything. . .

As much as I adore sch I know it would be a terrible class for the face of an expansion. It's probably the worst class to be honest...its companion looks like it's from a Disney movie.

Well they're absolutely taking advantage of the Cecil parallel, given how much of a love letter this expansion is feeling toward IV just with the little we've found out. Plus a paladin is THE shining beacon of light and hope. When everything is going bad, you need that symbol.

I am bummed they couldn't have found a way to work in a healer, like WHM, finally. Rosa is the quintessential WHM and could have worked in a IV-tribute expansion, too.
