Can we please get rid of the 1-map-per-inventory restriction?

How are you getting to 4 of each?

By my count, you can only have three. One opened, one still in the bottle, and one in saddle.

The only one you can actually carry more than 1 of at a time is the Timeworn Thief's Map. Those ones actually stack(not sure what limit is, but I currently am looking at three in my saddlebag).

I'm a bit bemused by "no we can't do that because the prices of the maps or the items from them will go down!" But when SE made crafting and gathering super easy and all prices tanked and crafters & gatherers weren't happy it was "good! crafters and gatherers are evil and selfish wanting to make gil!"

On topic though, I wouldn't mind the maps being a bit less annoying in how you can carry them, but I can also currently carry 3 on me and that's usually the most my fc does per person when we run a map party.

One in each of your 2 free retainers;
One in your chocosaddle bag;
One deciphered map;
One in your inventory;

Yes, I know this. But, again, portals aren't guaranteed and when they do pop up, they rely on RNG. And sometimes not everyone has 5 maps, but you just wanna have fun together doing maps as a group of friends or an FC group. So it would help in this case if people can have more than 5 maps to compensate for those who don't have many maps on them.

We can spend eternity going back and forth on this matter. My point is that since it's possible to bypass the restriction anyway, why not make the lives of players a bit easier. If this affects the game very negatively in a way that I couldn't foresee or think of, I'm ok with things remaining the way they are, no matter how inconvenient they might be.

I'll def look into that because I forget how I did. But for like 8 months I was holding 4 maps of each. Used them literally just yesterday for the first time lol.

Just thought of another system that might make the maps a bit more friendly and spin the economy lol, though some might not use it.


Let treasure hunters buy maps from the MW while out, perhaps via a moogle flute or something (like FFIX). It'll only check the price of maps currently, well the cheapest one, and let you buy that while out and about. No need to return to home, but it'll still keep value of the map itself (because you're not getting around how many people can bring back to sell, and it has to be purchased rather than stockpiled).

You've retainers (2+), saddlebag (1), and self (1), and self opened (1). (5+). Actually on your person when out and about would be 3 of course.

Then like 20 via mail lol.

So I suppose it depends on how people are counting :3.

So I was holding 4 because 1 on me, 2 on retainers (since you have 2 free retainers) and another in your saddlebag.

This doesn't count if you have more retainers; then you can hold more.

But naturally without having to pay for extra retainers, you can hold 4.

I am, but I don't count them as that revolves around going back to town to retrieve. Same with the ones held in mail(which I believe can surpass the 20 limit...but not sure since I don't use that method of holding maps...would need people to actually return maps in the mail for it to be worth it)

Edit: Plus, with retainers you can hold up to an additional 9(is that the max retainer count these days?) if you pay for those additional retainers.

Never made sense to me why the maps are 1 only in inventory, so i vote yes on this.

Yes, remove the limit, you can already horde maps like crazy, its just annoying and complicated...

I still got 5 or 6 on stock but ill never run em... no i just hate how we "have to" get one every day... its just silly...


Edit for above: Yes you can just mail em to a friend and get em mailed back, i had a ton of Gazelle skin maps but as im just terrible unlucky i gave up on em.
