Predictions for job(s) in the next expansion?

It could be possible to introduce a scythe like weapon in the vein of doublebladed weapons. Used by Rem, Zidane, and the Judge Magisters.

Of the weapon types currently in the game we do not have:

Whips
Scythes
Doubleblades
Rackets
Poles
Maces
Cards/Dice
Cannons
Bells
1 handed Axes
1 handed Hammers

and some more unique weapons not seen yet are

Gun-arms
Floating Weapons (Sage will be using this)
Whipblade
Dragon/Familiar (Primarily a Golbez and Ran'jit weapon)

Of the heavy armor wielding variety you can shorten this list to the uniques as well as Axes, Maces, Scythes and Doubleblades.

If they push for Scythes it very likely could be a hybrid between Scythe and Shadow Dragon if they want to pay homage to Ranjit since the upcoming xpac is looking to be very FFIV inspired.

Or if they decide to go with a Judge Magister type of job the doubleblades would fit in quite nicely. Could have a playstyle where you have attacks that use the doubleblades on it's own as well as attacks where they split into two different weapons.

And since Judges also used magical attacks with their blades you could put some aspects of the Spellblade recurring job in there as well and definitely pull from the WoL boss fight with the elemental sword stuff.

I really can't wait for mid May to see what it actually is. >_<

We really don't have much clue, outside of all the teasing and mystery around Zenos' weapon.

Anyone here knows what Fandaniel said about Zenos' weapon choice in Japanese? (either translated or in japanese so I can google translate it)

The part about it being "apt" I mean.

I German he says the weapon is Vintage or something and in French that it's Archaic. I don't really want to focus too much on that if that doesn't line up with Japanese, since I think that's where it's most likely to be a hint.

If they say something similar in Japanese, then that would kinda rule out some ideas I guess. Not sure if it really tells us anything about scythes though, since they are technically very old tools/weapons, but at the same time it sounds weird saying that about a scythe.

This is all well and good, but the new weapon could also be something we have never seen before like the nouliths that the Sage is getting.

I wouldn't put the certainty of Zenos's using a scythe at 95%. People are basing that off of a combination Yoshida's Reaper shirts, which the meaning of those shirt hints is in dispute, and the fact they are playing coy with revealing his new weapon. It is using a guess (t-shirt hint = scythe) to try and prove another guess (Zenos's job change = new class).

The reaper shirts, Zenos's clear foreshadowing of needing a new weapon, how shy they're being about revealing that weapon, and the fact that Zenos was also a Samurai in 4.0 are incredibly clear reasons why people expect him to be the reveal for the new job weapon. To call it a guess at this point is underselling the evidence.

As for the grim reaper shirt hints we are heading next expansion to the heartland of an empire founded by Hades, a guy named after a Greco-Roman Death God, and death themes and imagery are very present in relation to the Garlean Imperial Army. Reaper battle mechs, skull-faced helmets, Garlean soldiers using attacks named things like Yellow Death, ivory battle standards, the Imperial Army being the main force used to bring about the Apocalypse, etc...

Small nitpick, but it wouldn't be Greco-Roman here, just Greek. Pluto was the Roman equivalent. Yellow Death was the (late) name of Caesar's sword, and the connections between Gaius and Caesar have always been evident. They're just paying homage to that connection with his new move, and it shows off that we're not the only ones that can level up when needed. Thought it was a really cool scene, but I don't think it links at all to a new job.

The theory that Yoshida could be using the Grim Reaper shirts to hint at a Garlean soldier job like Judge isn't that far-fetched. Especially since Yoshida just informed us in the Sorrow of Werlyt quest line that the Garlean's have magitek soul crystals which means there would be a soul crystal available for the player to use for a possible class that originates in Garlemald. Very odd little coincidence there.

It is a little far-fetched. Knowing his style, Yoshi-P would hint at a judge job with something more direct, like a gavel. The continuous teasing of scythes specifically as well as the addition of Sice's hairstyle to the Gold Saucer as a permanent purchase option in 5.5 seem like clear evidence of something much more in line with the current consensus.

This is coming from someone who desperately wants a job based on Gaius's combat style. I'm just trying to temper your hopes so that you don't see them crushed when the reveal is a scythe job. The best I think we'll get in 6.0 is Garlean officer armor, maybe. They really hate Garlean culture and the pessimist in me feels like that isn't going to change with how Garlemald was conveniently wiped out before we even arrived.

Bouncing once again with the Judge theory.

We all know that legions are tied to their respective Final Fantasy.
VIth with Regula and the FF6 Triad.
Nael&Valens with Meteor project and the Weapons.
Gaius from the XIVth.

We only have Zenos from the XIIth, Stormblood was about a rebellion against an empire but that's as much XII connexion we have.
There is also the IIIrd legion mentionned but it doesn't go far, on top of III being almost entirely used.

With EW we know there is a travel to the moon and will have more links to FF IV. Now what's Gabranth's legion? The IVth.
Gabranth being a non-native garlean, it's sure he can use a jobstone.

Gabranth will most likely have a role in EW or at least his legion if he dies during Bozja. We also have visuals about his battle stance, but that's from more than 2 years ago
If we can be sure Gabranth will have an (un)direct impact on EW, then Judge job might not be that much of a stretch.

No, it is still a guess. We haven't proven the reaper shirt hints mean a scythe wielding class just like I haven't proven that the hints are about a Garlean soldier class like Judge. Both are speculation and unproven theories. The key difference is that one theory is being used as evidence for another unproven theory (Zenos is going to be a new class as opposed to a class already in the game) and that in turn is feeding back into the scythe class theory in a circular logic loop. Doesn't mean it is wrong but this is not a good thing when it comes to reasoning.

As for Zenos, he was a Samurai in Stormblood but as others have pointed out earlier in the thread that was to serve as a contrast to the WoL from the trailer. It is also probably why his weapon collection consisted of ones belonging to classes the WoL has been in the trailers and currently the WoL has only showcased Paladin in the Endwalker trailer.

As for Gaius, I already said that it could very well be the case that stuff with Gaius like his new Yellow Death attack could just be flavor for his character. Just like it could very well be the case that Zeno's new weapon is a red herring and he could changing into another class the WoL has showcased in the trailers like Warrior; which would be a "Classic" job in more ways then one.

As for Sice's hair, it has been in the game for years. It was a reward for the 2017 and 2018 Make It Rain events. Fans have been asking when they would bring it back and they have been openly debating adding it to the Mog Station for awhile now before finally deciding to dump it in the Golden Saucer. I am not sure a hairstyle added to the game five years ago is evidence of the new class.

As for Yoshida's shirt hints, the idea that a Grim Reaper shirt hint might be hinting at class tied originating from army created by a guy named after a God of Death and fielding Reaper battle mechs is not any more far fetched then Grim Reaper meaning a scythe based class. Especially considering the scythe was absent in the first Grim Reaper shirt he had on.

It broke apart in civil war with Zenos and the Telophoroi occupying the capitol and other leaders like Gabranth turning warlord and trying to set up their own nations. 5.5 made it pretty clear we are going to be fighting Garlean forces, largely under the Telophoroi banner, for most of Endwalker and the artwork for the dungeons they showed included a train depot in a Garlean military base.

Zenos taking on the new job is a guess, but it's all but confirmed that's the case.

Why would they have a whole cutscene literally just for him picking a weapon that we don't get to see? If he picked up a DRK sword something, why hide that? Really doesn't make much sense.

I can see connections to judge too, but you do have to agree that it's more far-fetched than a job based on Sice.

It's not about the hairstyle, and it's not even just about using scythe (don't know why everyone focuses on that). Sice is a reaper pretty much, and her signature ability is "grim reaper". Regardless of what you predict, nobody can deny the connections of a reaper from Yoshi-P shirts, to the only Final Fantasy character/job that is a reaper.

I mostly agree and I'd like to add 2 things:

On the 1st point: Imagine if Zenos showed up with Ardbert's axe. That'd be a big mindtwist on the WoL, wether he is aware or not. Though the shape on the trailer pic with the throne doesn't fit. (It also doesn't fit a scythe either, if it was we should see the blade poking out from the far left side, unless it folds toward the shaft of what we see is the bottom and the blade rests on the ground in front of Zenos. But then it would also be a spear, an axe... heck, it could be a bow, after all he is a hunter (ok that last one I'm joking)).

Second point: One of the shirt had the reaper say something like "I'll be there if you need me". One could make a small stretch to Emet's attitude in ShB who basically said this to the Scions and the WoL. "If you need help, I'm here. Totally trustworthy, I just want to try cooperation for a change". It's a stretch, but most theories are.

I aggree that all the emphasis on Zenos' weapon could be a red herring, but then it could be a red herring of a red herring too! ahahahah
