What was the Japanese reception to Nier crossover?

So the NA reception to the Nier raids seem to be mostly negative with a lot of grumbling about the story not making sense to anyone not familiar with Nier and just how the concept did not at all fit the world, story or lore at large in the way the other 3 large raids did and even how easy they were compared to VA and Ivalice.

So I was wondering, for those of you who speak Japanese, if you have read about how they reacted on that side of the world? My initial feeling is either it was negative or mixed due to Yoshida already going back on his 'the 24 man raids will always be a crossover with guest writers' statement he made right before Neir launched and already said endwalkers will have an original story set in the world, but of course, that is just speculation.

But regardless, I am just curious since it is such a hot topic here.

I don't see any discussion of it at all. Well, not in General, in the first 5 pages, nor in the 140 page chat thread in the last 10 pages.

I could just be missing it.

Check the subforum for dungeons/raids/etc. (I haven't looked myself, but General isn't always a catch all)

It wasn't too coherent even for those who played Nier, though there were references abound. The final raid was supposedly full of Drakengard references that I never would have picked up on since I never played those games. To be honest, it was all best enjoyed by just accepting whatever was in front of you and not questioning it. I was hoping for Nier level quality from the story but we did not get that, sadly. As far as fanservice goes it was spot on though, at least for the most part. Was still hoping for more though, like weapon glamours or even just a Pod mount.

I am from EU too and everyone (myself included) that I know did not like it.

You mean here on the forum? Most people i know love it including me. Just a tip the forum does not represent the player base.

I mean we bascially have no idea how much it was liked or not because even your opinion is after all just a opinion out of many. But we should not take out the forum completely because it can show a general direction that could possibly hint to how something is received because after all there is a wide varity of players from different countries posting their opinions.

The best would be if they did question the people on this ingame and release that information but SE never uses such a tool...they instead just love to use the numbers of participants to say that it was successfull.

Oh they have metrics they can measure with respect to participation. The fact of the matter is this forum and other are basically filled with people complaining about everything. It's not a metric that is representative of the general population for sure in my humble opinion.

That is a pretty good metric for them. Certainly not someone who posts a thread and states "So the NA reception to the Nier raids seem to be mostly negative" as if that is some sort of fact because that is what they want to believe.

Reddit may be a wider net but a smaller pool if that makes sense. It draws in a specific crowd of folks, and even the kindest on there are pretty jaded and surly compared to elsewhere lol.

Actually, reddit likely has a far higher number of active participations than this forum does. It speaks volumes the devs have acknowledged on several occasions they read reddit because of its sheer activity. It helps reddit doesn't have the reputation this forum does for lax moderation.

What I've noticed with online discussion is if opinions are significantly one-sided, they often do reflect the general playerbase. We saw that with Eureka given not only did the devs make several changes (to Pagos, especially) but Bozja is essentially Eureka with much of that feedback accounted for. Another example may be Blue Mage, which was reviled at release and only barely started to shake off that stigma. If we don't see a second limited job for Endwalker, it's very telling.

When the overall opinion is more divisive or split, then it's less likely the online community represents a majority opinion either way.

It doesn't have lax moderation but like any big sub-reddit there is a strong hivemind in it, and opinions get shot down or flamed if they don't fit their agenda.
