    Need tips for selling/making gil

How does one compete with the bots that automatically undercut, that are run by automated programs?
Since these same characters have been around for a year doing this, im assuming that SE condones fully cheating and using programs correct? In what ways can i compete with these automated script running players?

quick answer is either you dont, or you make a job of it

you cannot compete with a program thats up and running (aside from maintenance) 24/7

SE, I would say, fully condones it but will not state that, otherwise every crafter could use bot programs to sell their stuff.

some people, claim to have found niche markets that bots arent it, if you stumble on one, you can make gil that way.
others, as I once did, stand on the market board all day (a benefit of working from home now) and updating prices as soon as I notice a bot has undercut me (I no longer do that since I have given up on crafting currently for teh most part except for requests)

the other option, is figure out where their bottom price is, and sell under that
however, there are enough bots out there currently that that figure will vary, so know where your cost to produce is
also, real players will still undercut you, so bear that in mind

there ARE ways to do it, but the final decision is up to you and how much actual effort you think selling things is worth

Don't go for the big paydays, mats, and in volume. Crystals and material are often a good bet, anything people will buy in volume. Unfortunately this is the downside of World Visit..

just wait until we have data center visit.

makes it a thousand times easier for the bots and cheaters. SE's idea of being "low impact" and "negligible problems"

    Some tips.

    1. Don't farm just ONE mat...diversify. Also decide ahead of time if your going for HQ or NQ mats. Sell only NQ, hoard the HQ and keep for crafting purposes. This requires discipline to keep the HQ items.

    2. Craft items with your overage gatherings or hoarded mats. This is literally free GIL as you have already spent the time gathering, and now you just need to craft an item to sell.

    3. Watch the crafting collectables very closely. Scrip mats are always in demand and you can make a great amount of GIL just in the collectibles markets. Farm the mats used to make collectables or make the collectables yourself and sell the scrip mats. Either way works.

    4. When crafting try to focus on a certain level of gear. 30,40,50,60,70. These are PERFECT ways to get your foot in the door when trying to make some GIL in a market. Pick a craft, pick a level, pick an item/set. Don't worry about the margins, just sell it and move on. Great practice!

    5. Whales only come along once in a great while and not very often does a 1.5 million GIL item sell everyday. Don't overextend on making one type of item...you will be undercutting forever and it's a huge time sink. Check those Sales Histories...if one sells per month....your going to be undercutting for a month.

    6. Don't overlook the NQ market, I have made 100's of thousands of GIL selling normal quality at half price HQ. This is great as you don't have to manage the price so much. And the HQ sellers LOVE when NQ is on the board...gives them a floor for pricing.

    7. Patch day sales! Don't get to wrapped up in the patch day excitement to much. Yes you can make a killing on items, but remember your going to have to CRUNCH like a mofo to make that HIGH MARGIN profit. I have spent many patch days GRINDING mats for great profits...but at what cost. I would kill myself for 40mil GIL....and be exhausted the next day and sick of the game. I recommended planning DAYS in advance by farming a ton of mats at a slower pace in anticipation.

    8. Market research! You have to read the markets the best you can and understand needs and wants. NQ gear is a need, HQ gear is a want. NQ raid food is a want, HQ raid food is need. If you can understand this you can corner a market. Found a market that has 2 postings of a need? Focus on that by x2 what's on the board. Example: Two posted items? Just purchase them and repost at gain. Make two more of those items and price slightly higher then the other two, but use a different retainer. You just cornered the market and your in control of the price.

Most likely, SEs will always understand the problems when bots from all over the world come on their probably peaceful and with a minimum number of bots and start interfering with the Japanese, and only when their relatives feel the whole problem of bots will they start doing something. Instead of banning 3-7 real high-end bots per week...and this not every week

Bots all appear and appear. Over the past month, I have seen a couple of new trading bots. And two or three new FC bots that I will run into when collecting levinsand.
And one of them is sponsored and was apparently moved from another server, as a typical check of clothes on a bot led me to another FC bot, and at first his nickname was encrypted (Obtaining Signature) and his retainers had Russian words written in English. A couple of days later, his nickname clearly showed up when I checked the prices and noticed that these Russian retainers are selling things with a clear nickname (I will not indicate the nickname, because Bots Lives Matter for SE)

I'm in a JP DC and I see bots from time to time. There are also some items that seem like fierce price cut happened (600, 599, 598, ...).
Nonetheless, most items are still OK and go up and down as it should.

There are also some ppl listing items at 1-2 gil/pc. What's the point of selling it same price as selling to NPC?

There are economically illiterate people there is nothing you can do about it. Just as I have seen people selling the materia of the initial levels of its lower price npc.

Well playing on America, I can say that in 70lvl + content from trading bots we have at least 8-10. Moreover, of these 2-3 are multi-server inside the cluster, or even have the same scheme on another cluster (as this can be seen both by the nicknames and by the name of the FC and by the appearance of the characters). But in the collection all the same nicknames flicker for almost a year, none of these bots has been banned, only new ones come. After 5.5, I traded 510 items, and now I continue to do so, in fact, you need to be at the MB every 5-10 minutes to check the prices of items. And they hope that someone will buy most of it quickly, the problem is usually that I live in Eastern Europe and play America there is a big time difference, and the most active phase is evening or deep night for me.

It's not a bad thing. If you need the item you can get HQ of it at 1g. All I had to do was just not put the said item on sale and focus on more valuable ones.
To me it seems more like a donation to new players who might need it
