What's the real reason you don't add Modern Aesthetic to Viera?

I know it's not the head shape/ears. Yes, they're probably not a straight transition over from the other races from Viera but it can definitely be done. I know it can be done because their is an entire modding community doing it and making it work. You could literally just buy the work they did and implement it.

I think the real reason you won't make them compatible is because you fear with Viera having access to all the Modern Aesthetics you'll see a 20%-30% player base Fantasia over to them and you don't want to see a single race have such a large presence in the game.

Prove me wrong, tell me your side of the story on how Square Enix developers can't do something that a team of 1-3 modders do in their basement.

Drop this on over at the mega thread and help fight the clutter in the GD forums. Devs pay more attention to mega threads than numerous little ones, anyway.

They do it because having restrictive elements to a race leads to people getting bored quicker and therefore sells more fantasias on the cash shop.

To me, Viera's head-shape doesn't differ that much from other race's:

I think it has more to do with how they are considered parallel to Hrothgar, who can't get new hairstyles because of how they're currently designed.
Ear placement might also be a thing but there's still plenty of older hairstyles Viera could grab from.

It's because they bundled them with Hrothgar and then botched Hrothgar implementation. Honestly, the best way to go about getting the old hair for viera is to advocate for a hrothgar fix. Also, please join us in the mega thread <3

I think that's probably the real issue, the photos you provided clearly show them floating above the character's head (works fine for the more voluminous hairstyles of the Viera in general, but not for the standard set of hairstyles)... and even the use of older hairstyles just looked funny because of the ears, nothing was really lining up all that well. Based on those images, I think the correct approach would involve tweaking every other hairstyle to go around the ears of Viera... and that creates a pretty large workload, when you think about it.

While it would be simple to add in the hairstyle (and hats for that matter) while allowing the ears to clip through them... it doesn't speak the best for FFXIV's quality control, even if it's giving the fanbase a compromise they're asking for. I'm pretty sure the plan is to do it right or not do it at all... and at this point, we can only wait and hope they get around to addressing it at some point.

Viera have no tails, ergo they are inferior to both miqo'te and au'ra by default.
