Is there a way to turn off neighbors' housing effects?

1. No, there's no supported way to turn it off.

2. Best approach would be to do what it seems like you already plan on doing: If you can get ahold of them, ask nicely. Explain that you're trying to use gpose and if they'd move it a little more out of the way it'd help a lot.

2 part 2: But be aware they might say no. And as always comes up in these kinds of threads - there's no way to force other housing owners to make changes to their setups or do anything. If they're not cooperative, you could, if desperate enough, look for a new plot elsewhere, or hope they remain inactive long enough for auto demolition.

2. That’s the plan. It’s not something to lose sleep over, a minor annoyance at worst, and I don’t want to be a jerk about it. But it is annoying enough to make me want to approach them in the first place. Maybe that’s something I can drop in the suggestions thread, a way to toggle vfx of other players’ housing...
