Do you want to know what's worse? I checked the person's gear, and they had the complete caster set from Sirensong, and were 61. So there was no way they could've been a booster. To be fair, there is a level range where "spam freeze" is the ideal BLM aoe rotation. It ends when you get flare, but it does exist. And sirensong is at that awkward part of the level curve where you dont have dual-flares yet. Still, that is BAD. My scorched soul is pained reading this. You should have at least 4 times as many Fire 4s as Bliz 4s just from bosses alone(really it should be like 5 or 6 times, but id settle for 4 if the person was still learning). Im wondering if they never learned the stances properly? A reclamation/re-education project for someone else to undertake i suppose.
This one is beyond your help. Only sleep can save her now.
So you arent wrong that it was never a thing in the past. It was the most recent changes that prompted the math people to look into it. I dont have the math breakdown in front of me, but the akhmorning leveling guide puts "spam freeze(and keep thunder 2 up)" as the aoe rotation from 35(when you get it) until 49(flare changes the math at 50). I think its because fire 2 has a lower potency per target and transposing back and forth means you dont spend much time at full astral stacks. Interestingly(to me anyway) is that they say from 60-67 you should be using fire 4s in your aoe when you have less then 5 targets since its so much higher potency then F2. That feels weird and off to me, but i would bet the math bears it out.I'm going have to raise a flag here. Freeze spam was never a thing until possibly recently because they completely changed how freeze works (it used to be a manual target spell with a long cast timer). I'm pretty sure that Fire 2 (for groups) or Fire 1 (single-target) is still more efficient than Freeze in any scenario but if they have worked out a rotation where freeze spam is the better option then I really want to see that. Because having BLM mained since Heavensward, that has never been an thing (been a while since I looked up rotations though, so I'm not denying it completely, just that it sounds sketch).
In any case, that kind of play in that level of dungeon hurts my darkened soul as well. :/
Just... ouch. I mean, at least their gear was up to date? #damnedwithfaintpraise
Some stories from roulettes before the maintenance. I'll try to keep them short:
- Leveling 50/60/70: Xelphatol
Rolled as a GNB for AiN. All I want to say is...dear booster WHM... you're healing nothing with all those [Cure I] and [Medica]. I'd be more appreciative if I could see at least [Aero II] debuff on the boss, but that never happens.- Leveling: Dzemael Darkhold
Rolled as a WHM for AiN. Once again a reminder to hate the frogs cause for some reason they pulled our tank down below and this ends up in a wipe.- Expert: Heroes' Gauntlet
Rolled as a SCH. Dear BLM, get off from those red carpets. You didn't even have [Leyline] active at those moment to warrant any benefits to stay put on bad stuffs. I'll bail you once or twice, third and onward I'll just let Eos/Selene babysits you. (No, they never died, just running with really low HP most of time that gets them to finally move out of bad stuffs).- Alliance Raid: Void Afk
Rolled as an AST. Nothing special, besides one of the tank decides to let the two snakes mates. Those magic vuln stacks hurts, duh.- Normal Raid: Eden's Verse - Furor
Rolled as a BRD. The two RDMs & PLDs in the party were literally carrying the group with two first timer healers kept eating bad stuffs and kissing the floor. Genuinely surprised this one didn't wipe.
Last dungeon I did was Brayflox's Longstop as a WHM.
Landed in it as a catgirl among popotos, they all said they were new and I assume they must've been playing on a call or something ahah. Gave them a few pointers and they were really receptive! We wiped in the big room before the 2nd to last boss, because the tank decided to run through all the mobs (ALL the mobs). Told them to keep to the right of the room so that they don't pick up everything and they did. Everything otherwise was really smooth and it was nice being able to help a few newbies!
I got kicked from the new nier raid yesterday after telling the other healer while playing a WHM, "You really don't need to add a sound effect to your raise macro, it's obnoxious". Someone decided to call me a B-word for telling the other healer that while our entire group was dead. While writing a quick report and sending it to the support desk, I got kicked after the first boss. It really reminded me the people who play this game are just as nasty as people who play any other game, but I'm happy SE takes reports seriously.

I've never seen a tank do that before. that said I'm usually tanking or healing .
"Sometimes I wonder I heal for fun. or if I heal because I'm a glutton for punishment."
You probably made the mistake of calling out somebody with some premades! The profanity will probably land them a ban and strike against their account though, so yeah, there's definitely that.I got kicked from the new nier raid yesterday after telling the other healer while playing a WHM, "You really don't need to add a sound effect to your raise macro, it's obnoxious". Aaaaaand you probly werent wrong. Most res macros are bad, most macros with sound cues are bad, and anything that combines both is usually terrible. Spoiler alert to 95% of the people out there: You arent funny. And any joke that is going to potentially be repeated multiple times through a long run better be pretty f'ing funny for me to have to put up with. So just dont. For all of us.
The only raise macro that has any right to exist is "Raising <t>".Aaaaaand you probly werent wrong. Text macros only have a place when they provide an extremely useful piece of information to the rest of your party. "I've got this one, other healer, don't waste your 25% MP" is pretty important. "(Living Dead) (Just Used It.) (Heal!)" is just about the only other acceptable macro IMO.
Keep this "Something Something 3rd Shadow Art Something Something Chimatsuri" nonsense out of my party chat please and thank you.
