The only thing I really wanted was a Flight Unit mount, it was a long stretch since mounts don't typically drop from alliance raids.. but the damn thing is there, NPCs are using it.. GIVE IT TO ME!

I think that calling it '' gender-locked madness '' is maybe taking it a bit too far lol, especially in FFXIV of all games.
I mean yeah some gear have differences between the gender ( the female gear tends to look five hundred times cooler imo ), but I don't really see the problem with that men and women do wear different clothes irl too.
And if anything even tho people tend to just complain that the female gear doesn't look like the male gear, the female gear is usually way more varied and diverse than the male gear.
What does '' sexualization '' have to do with anything lol. She's pointing out that SQEX missed an opportunity here to put some really cool stuff in to get people excited about FFXIV as well as the Nier series, and that they failed to provide one of the main characters in another of SQEX's franchises the same courtesy that they gave the more popular (and more sexualized) character. Fans of the Nier franchise know both 2B and 9S; to the point that both characters are mentioned in the same sentence most of the time. The point she's making here is that she was excited to see how they were going to close this collaboration out and she (as well as other people) expected them to give both main characters of the franchise proper due; especially considering they are dropping Nier: Replicant's remaster on the 23rd. They didn't do that and she is letting them know her thoughts and asking them to do better in the future by adding content.
I dunno why people keep bringing that up like it's some kind of a jab and negative or something, what was even the point in bringing that up?
Especially when we just got Devola and Popola's attire, I mean then why didn't we get A2's or Kainé's mog instead?
I dunno people can dislike whatever they like but that doesn't make it bad or wrong, just saying that something is sexualized isn't a negative unless you already dislike it.
And I really don't think that has anything to do with what we got or didn't got.
Edit: You also gotta think about it a bit too from the pov of people who haven't played Nier Automata, 2B is a more iconic design and character and who you play as at first.
She also added more unique parts to the game too, 9S is just shorts and a shirt.
2B added way more unique and exciting parts to the game for mogging.
Again it's like I said above about female vs male gear, female gear is generally a lot more varied and diversify the gear more.
All things considered the overwhelming majority of gear is just basic pants and boots, so when we get something else it's a lot more fresh ( not to mention that male characters got it too which added a lot to them ).
9S isn't a bad design, but it'd be more of the same that we already have essentially.
It's because they're modeled after two separate characters in Nier Automata, the female version is modeled after Anemone who was the resistance leader and the male version after Jackass who was basically a quest giver NPC.
Jackass in the game is in the field so her attire is more worn out I guess.
Personally I much prefer the female version but it's just a preference but imo the male version looks too bulky and heavy for dps.

Yep. This decision from SE to not let us spend raid currency on just buying the item(s) we want is extremely bone headed. It's the same in Delubrum Reginae with the mount, hair, etc. No one is asking for it to be fast and easy, but let us actually work towards a specific goal if we want to just in case we don't get stupid lucky with RNG and/or the loot roll. Put the minions, 2B/9S hair, 2B outfit, etc. in a raid currency based shop. Please please please, let us spend the raid coins for the minions. I've been unable to roll well enough to win any of the NieR minions since the raid series started. It's to the point that it hurts my enthusiasm to run them. It's just heartbreaking to see a minion I want so badly drop and then go to someone else again, and again. Even if its takes 99 weekly coins, it would be better than the probably-never odds that I have right now of getting the 9S minion.
I loved the raid but the only thing that disappointed me was Devola/Popola outfit being caster only. I was hoping it was an universal outfit so I could use their top piece on my dancer, but nope, aiming sets get shafted once again. There will never be a decent looking aiming set that fits dancer theme... they're all aimed (pun intended) to fit bards or machinists. Dancers need the ninja/dragoon treatment when it comes to gear sets.
I guess at least my future blue mage will look good when their cap is increased to 80.![]()
I agree with OP, the raids were fun and as a NieR fan, i enjoyed them, but am sad to see that we were unable to get 9S' outfit.
Would have liked to have the option to use his coat (and the boots! they look so cool!) for a glam, but am limited to the few somewhat adjacent-looking class-restricted pieces (like the aiming chest) from part 2 on my female Au Ra. ; _ ;
About mounts: Sure, they historically have not been in the game before, but could have been a cool extra reward to get for enough coins exchanged from the raid, for example.
I hope the devs consider letting us get at least a 9S glam at some point. >_<
Hey if they add them to the cash shop that works, too.
Oh, I see... Still, why not separate them for armor types instead of gender? E.G. Aiming set being Anemone, striking and scouting being the Jackass... Their sets look completely genderless to begin with. It's still a weird decision...It's because they're modeled after two separate characters in Nier Automata, the female version is modeled after Anemone who was the resistance leader and the male version after Jackass who was basically a quest giver NPC.
Jackass in the game is in the field so her attire is more worn out I guess.
Personally I much prefer the female version but it's just a preference but imo the male version looks too bulky and heavy for dps.
I just hope the last quest for the series - that I feel that will come in 5.55 - will offer some kind of interesting reward.
Found a mockup on Reddit:
There's also one thing that bothers me. I know it might be someone's cup of tea because of specific details, but I feel that the Maiming/Fending sets are way too similar to stuff the previous tiers already gave us. I'm not familiar with NieR series, but a quick google serach made me think... since they went all over the place with the other references for armor sets, why not to do the same for the Maiming/Fending? Again, personal taste, I suppose.
